    Ep. 59: Michael Silver, Independent

The end of Pass It Down’s unannounced hiatus starts off with a bang, as Natalie details Mike’s untimely head-bang and its chilling effect on his co-host. After commemorating this year’s relatively tame Blocktober, Mike talks about his eight-year NFL Network journey and why that unlikely partnership ended last summer. We discuss his first story for Bally Sports, which broke the news of Houston Texans chair Cal McNair’s racially insensitive comments at a charity golf tournament, and some of the other toxic forces at the highest levels of a league striving to drape itself in anti-racist symbolism. From the Dan Snyder investigation to the Jon Gruden emails to the Woody Johnson allegations, we get into all of it. Mike also talks about the importance of being part of a team and gets nostalgic about some of his sweeter moments at NFL Network and Yahoo! Sports. And for you Ted Lasso fans, Mike and Natalie have a few things to say about Trent Crimm of The Independent and why he is a blight on humanity.

    So...About That Dave Chappelle Special...

Co-hosts Jamal Sterling and Khalilah Elliott chop it up this week over Jamal's surprising fascination with tea, the upcoming SuperBowl 2022 halftime show lineup, race relations,  and the NFL's convenient amnesia and possible coverups in the age of Jon Gruden

The pair also give their review of ABC's new Wonder Years show and wade into the topic of the power and responsibility of artists and comedians in a frank and candid conversation amidst the controversial Dave Chappelle's Netflix special "The Closer" in one of the show's most hotly debated topics.

If you're in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area, this month, be sure to check out Jamal in Good Latimer at Kitchen Dog Theater thru Oct 24.  Ticket info at: www.kitchendogtheater.org.

The NFL Knows Squat About Personal Conduct

The NFL Knows Squat About Personal Conduct

Content warning: This episode contains discussion of sexual violence, harassment, intimate partner violence, and domestic abuse.

Hannah & Suzanne share yet another SUPER FUN PODCAST EPISODE, GUYS™, this time examining an administrative policy of one of America's most powerful corporations: the NFL and their personal conduct policy. What is the 1-ish thing that rules all other things for the NFL? In what way does the terrible mismanagement of these cases show us that the call is coming from inside the house? And what does Andrew Cuomo have to do with any of this? Also, DO NOT SUE US NFL. We say 'allegedly' like 6,000 times.

Visit our website for a list of articles, podcasts, and other resources if you would like to learn more about the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Ep. 57: Ron and Stephanie Rivera Welcome Mike to Washington

Ep. 57: Ron and Stephanie Rivera Welcome Mike to Washington

After explaining his motivation for bringing Mike on as a Washington Football Team content contributor, Ron heartily endorses the ‘Clean Slate’ plan that will unblock fans of the team on Twitter (at least for now). That leads to a healthy discussion about Ted Lasso, binge-watching and which WFT player has Jamie Tartt tendencies. We learn about the role frozen yogurt played in Ron and Stephanie’s courtship during their UC Berkeley days and how ‘The Play’ wasn’t the only amazing ending Ron experienced as a Golden Bear great. Ron and Steph share the details of their secret trip to the Bahamas that jump-started his move to Washington, and he tells us why he signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to be his quarterback in 2021. Finally, we learn about the importance of family and friends as Ron battled cancer during his first season with the team, and why one ‘leak’ in the organization turned out to be a good one.

We then get into some college football talk, wonder if Trump is a dark wizard, we get a follow up from our pal Luke Mayeux regarding las week’s discussion of college coaches as presidents and talk a little Harry Potter(?). We then get into lighter topics, like how the coronavirus is destroying all American sports, the NBA bubble is maybe ready to burst, Russell Westbrook tests positive, #freeWoj, and Atlanta Dream players being bad ass, while Senator and known racist criminal Kelly Loeffler still sucks so much. We then wrap up the show by talking Applebee’s grand re-welcoming to hungry customers and chain restaurant stories. EP83: EA Madden NFL Ratings Matter and the numbers prove it | StatMan

In today's episode, we explore the recent Madden NFL ratings, the issues we have with them and why they matter in 2020. We also talk about some interesting occurrences in the NBA bubble, and finish it off with our hot take on the Washington NFL franchise and the name change.

    Madden Ratings

It's ratings reveal week for "Madden NFL 21," meaning intense debate among fans about the best players at each position as a tease ahead of the Aug. 28 release date.

While EA Sports has deflated player ratings across the board in recent years, reducing the number of players in the high-90s, it still handed out several 99 overall marks for the upcoming season.

The remaining ratings will be released throughout the week as part of an ESPN special reveal.
