Today's topic D’Angelo on the Care Bear; a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He first garnered attention after co-producing the single “You Will Know” for the R&B supergroup Black Men United.

Hello I'm Gail Nobles. Welcome to the Cat Bear. Let’s talk with D'Angelo's debut studio album Brown Sugar(1995), was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and received widespread aclaim from music critics who have credited the album for ushering in the neo-soul movement. It’s third single Lady reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It was in the good old R&B days when I heard D’Angelo’s single Lady. He was singing nothing but something good about his lady. If you weren't raised in the 90s, you might not understand and appreciate the music. D'Angelo was singing nothing but love and respect for his lady.

His next album, Voodoo (2000), debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and continued to receive critical acclaim. The album's lead single Untitled (How Does It Feel), earned him the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance; likewise, Voodoo won Best R&B Album.

D'Angelo released his third studio album, Black Messiah, in 2014. The album was met with critical acclaim and peaked at number five on the US Billboard 200.

    Christmas Vacation

    Christmas Vacation

Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid might repel people with their off-screen antics, but they and the rest of this cast do some terrific comic work in National Lampoon's 30-year-old holiday hit. The Next 175 Project has one of us gushing about this nostalgic fave while the other is set on nailing Sparky’s epic anti-boss rant. Writer/producer John Hughes’ decade-long run of beloved comedies was still in full swing at this point and Jeremiah Chechik doesn’t over-direct or get in the way of the Looney Tunes-esque gags. Christmas is only about a week away, so let the Griswolds and your humble narrators put you in the mood for the most wonderful (well, stressful, at least) time of the year.

For The Record: In the 1983 Vacation, Eddie & Catherine lived in Kansas, not Nevada. Also, Ellen dodges Eddie’s attempted kiss on the lips in THIS movie.

Devastating Changes to the Endangered Species Act (w/ Huffington Post's Chris D'Angelo and Born Free USA's Angela Grimes)

On Monday, the Trump Administration announced changes to weaken the Endangered Species Act. This decision comes just three months after the United Nation's Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) released a study that reported up to 1 million species are now threatened with extinction around the globe.

We discuss these changes and what it means with Chris D'Angelo, environmental reporter for the Huffington Post, and Angela Grimes, CEO of Born Free USA.

Also, Chad the Bird is back to talk about feral hogs and animal migration.

    49. Tastes Like An Innocence Project

    49. Tastes Like An Innocence Project

On this special edition of JUST THE TIP-STERS, Melissa travels south into deep Orange County California, to the campus of the University of California Irvine School of Law, where she spends a fascinating just-under-an-hour with Super Ninja Justice Lawyer Annee Della Donna, a private practice attorney in Laguna Beach who started and leads Innocence Rights Orange County.  Together with a hearty band of law students from the UC Irvine Law School, Ms. Della Donna's homegrown innocence project has already worked on several impressive cases - including the case of the man she believes was wrongly convicted of the 1979 brutal murder of Joan Virginia Anderson - which, some of you Tip-Sters may remember, bore a lot of resemblance to the rapes and murders committed by the Golden State Killer (!).  Della Donna and her team have convinced the Orange County D.A. to reopen that case...and they are now hot on the trail of a cold case also familiar to Just The Tip-Ster devotees - that of Garden Grove housewife Patricia Neufeld, whose murder in 1978 also looks suspiciously like the work of our old pal EARONS/GSK.  A fascinating discussion with a remarkable champion for justice - and her personal story of her own possible...well... probable...encounter with you-know-who when she was a 17 year-old high school girl...

    47. Tastes Like NPR Sent A Rejection Letter - Plus Tip-Sters Two Cents

Hey!  Don't be distracted by that...er...more Podcasty sounding introduction...it was just a little something we tried...for about 30 seconds...and then realized we just ain't traditional Podcasty People!   Plus this is no time to mess around, since it's time for another TIP-STERS TWO CENTS, featuring listener emails, comments and general chit-chat.  PLUS Melissa and Producer Mark mix it up on a wide variety of topics ranging from weirdly-pronounced city and street names to mispronounced words to...yes...peeing in the back yard.  PLUS PLUS - there are scintillating updates in the seemingly bottomless trough of new stories coming out of the GSK investigation...and then Paul Holes news...and so much more!
