You never know where or how God is going to lead you and for John Lucas it was his church hiring him for his construction background as the school at the church was expanding.  After a couple of years the church saw the need for a security role and asked John to transition in that direction.

Since the church is really a reference to the body of Christ, we can glean information from a variety of ministries around the country and getting a glimpse into what a ministry like Compassion International and the mission that Jim Adams has been called to is a real treat.

An advocate for personal security for over 25 years, Donald Hawkins entered formal security work in 2010 when he was asked to establish a security team for his church.  Drawing from his knowledge of personal security and his experience in IT, Donald established a comprehensive security plan for the entire facility.  Today, he is a licensed, armed security officer serving at a large, non-denominational church. Donald is an alumnus of the R.L. Oatman Executive Protection School and a member of ASIS International.

Assistant Vice President and Senior Corporate Counsel with Brotherhood Mutual.

Steve joined Brotherhood Mutual in 2014 as an associate attorney in the legal department. He became associate corporate counsel in 2016 and assumed his current role in March 2017. Steve assists ministries with risk management, focusing on the areas of child protection, worker screening, faith-based decisions, safety & security, and employment issues.

Brad Hallock is a former Marine and has retired after 25 years in law enforcement.  Brad has just a couple of years under his belt in the ministry of church security at his church.  Brad brings a variety of experience to the ministry that he oversees now and uses the opportunity to share it with churches in his community.

Dick Clark is a committee legal counsel for the Nebraska Legislature and an attorney in private practice specializing in firearms law.  Dick is the program attorney for US Law Shield in Nebraska.  Dick has a heart to see the ministry of Christ to be done in a safe environment.  But many people wonder what does that look like to a church from a legal and liability standpoint?  Dick clearly articulates to churches and ministries some of the legal aspects of ministry that they need to consider in order to protect the ministry from those that would want to legally do harm.n attorney in private practice specializing in firearms law.  

Norman retired from the US Army after 24 years of service and then spent 6 years with the Alaska State Troopers.  Norm has been in bad situations, against bad people, and come out on top. He has dedicated a lifetime of learning, research, study, and certification to give you the best odds of surviving a real-world encounter.

Dan Lanotte was the director of his church’s safety team for about 8 years and now serves as one of their trainers.  We are going to talk with Dan and see what it has been like to develop and lead a church team.  The challenges that have been faced and how he has worked through those.

Vince is a wealth of knowledge and experience that he is allowing God to use in a variety of ways in his life.  We never know when evil is going to show up and are we prepared for when that happens?  Vince has an incredible story of just that and how the vigilance Vince showed and God's protection made a difference.

Alan Hughes has been the security director at his church for over 8 years.  Alan brings a variety of experience to the role that God has called him to with his church and he has also been able to share that experience with other churches in his community as part of a local coalition of churches that started about 5 years ago.

Bill has served 30 years in law enforcement and retired as Chief of Police. He currently is the Director of Security for Cedar Park Church in Washington State and has established a highly successful and respected church security program.  He is a frequently sought speaker and trainer on House of Worship security programs.

My guests today are Frank and Sheri Pomeroy.  I have been blessed to be able to spend some time with Frank and his wonderful wife Sherri over the last couple of years.  The evil that occurred at their church in Sutherland Springs Texas shocked and saddened our country.  Frank and Sheri join me on the podcast to discuss the  what lessons were learned as a result and the healing process. 

Tim has been a pastor over many years for a couple of different congregations and I think that it is with that pastor’s heart that he is able to combine both the security aspect and the ministry aspect so well.  Not everyone that was prior law enforcement or military can combine their experience in those fields with a heart and mindset for ministry.
