    080. Bias or Data, Which Comes First? with Dr. Selena Fisk

💭 Just like the chicken or the egg metaphor, is data created to validate our bias or is bias the natural outcome of subjective information?

We all have systematic bias that is both implicit and explicit. It is true that data can help us make better decisions but it is not immune to bias even in the face of a legitimate alternative. Bias can heavily influence leaders in interpreting and drawing conclusions such as seeking out information that supports their views, overgeneralization and the tendency to only report or share positive results.

In this episode, we are joined by author, leading data expert, data coach and storyteller, Dr. Selena Fisk who is passionate about helping others sort through the ‘numbers’ to tell the real stories. Dr. Fisk has mentored executives, senior, and middle leaders, as well as hundreds of others in data storytelling, to make really good decisions for yourself, your team and your organization. She shares the latitude of data misuse in business and counters it with a call for data literacy and democracy.
