Manoah and his wife, like many of us today, show profound gratitude for this gift from God and ask Him how they should raise the boy, trusting in God and doing their best to bring Samson up in a way that will honor Him.

In one of these wine presses stood the man who God would use to save Israel, Gideon, a man who teaches us that God can use the weakest and most self-doubting person to accomplish His will and save His people.

Episode 58: Once again Satan comes into the presence of The LORD, and once again God praises His servant Job, pointing out that even though He allowed Satan to take away everything he owned, Job still praised God. So Satan tries again to break Job, this time by taking away his health. Covered in boils and in grief, Job sits outside mourning his loss and praying to God. His friends arrive to comfort him, but, just like what can happen to us today, the conversation turns towards words of blame instead of comfort. But even in his anger, Job still does not curse God.

In this fear, they devise a plan to deceive Israel into thinking that they are weary travelers coming from afar, in hopes that Israel might make a treaty with them. This caused five of the tribes in Canaan to gather together as one in an attempt to make war against Israel. But even though their numbers were large, they were no match for the God of Israel. He caused hail to go before them and even allowed the sun to stand still until the armies of the Canaanite kings were thoroughly defeated.

But on the 7th day, God caused the walls of Jericho to fall down and the people conquered the city sparing only Rahab and her family.

Episode 45: Israel is finally on the borders of the promised land, so Moses sends out 12 spies, one from each tribe, at God’s command, and has them enter the land secretly for 40 days and bring back a report of what they see. Upon returning, 10 of the twelve are frightened and bring back a bad report. Only 2 of the spies, Joshua and Caleb, come back with hope and zeal for God’s promise. But this is not enough for the camp to change their minds. Once again the people of Israel give in to fear and refuse to trust in God’s goodness.

As they scheme against him, God calls them into the tent of meeting, striking Miriam with leprosy. God then heals her at the request of Moses. This story is inspired by Numbers 12. Episode 44: Just as Cain was jealous of Abel's approval by God, so now Miriam and Aaron are jealous of Moses and the position he has before God. He gave an open rebuke to Miriam and Aaron for their actions, and Miriam was sentenced to live outside of the camp for a period of seven days.
