RED TIDE RISES: Tracking the cause along our coast

RED TIDE RISES: Tracking the cause along our coast

One year after a July that saw many of us forced to stay home and inside because of the pandemic, residents along our coast are having another Florida July that's less than ideal.

This time, of course, it's red tide and dead fish. The stinky and costly, dirty and unattractive images that are the opposite of the St. Pete Beach that's pictured on postcards.

Several hundred tons of dead sea life have been collected from Pinellas waterways. But there appears to be no end in sight, yet plenty of blame to go around.

On the latest episode of our To The Point Already podcast, Spectrum Bay News 9's Rick Elmhorst and Roy DeJesus discuss the status of red tide and the effect it's having on residents and the environment.

    Episode 42

    Episode 42
Last season, Fish Fantasy skipped episode 42 in honor of New York Giants Lawrence Taylor (no. 56) Taylor chose to wear number 56 because he was a fan of Cowboys linebacker Thomas Henderson. As it would turn out, Taylor would have the longer and more successful career while Rogers, although successful in his own right with several 1,000 yard rushing seasons and two Pro Bowl selections, was injury-prone and forced to retire following the 1987 season with the Washington Redskins. I knew I would eventually record the TRUE 56th episode of Fish Fantasy (there's no end in sight) and then I wondered if I would swap out their places on http://fishfantasyradio.tumblr.com. That decision isn't going to made today but I did decide to finally officiate a 42nd episode Dave Lloyd from Social Hero (and Patric Valentine- presumably from Earth) stops by for this very fun episode where we speak of rock royalty, Social Hero, two person bands, Louie CK, NYC venues and if Adam & Eve ever went fishing.

    Episode 52

    Episode 52
On this episode I talk about New York Band Draft- Bob Mould, Jay Giacomazzo, my terrible pain in my arm and possible addiction to Percocet and the fabulous Anne Fanny Morgan. Also we listen to some jazz, country, western, folk rock, indie, alternative, punk and psychedelia records (oh and some genre allegedly called "math rock".) Included in this show are new songs from the mOrgans and Blaqk Audio and early releases from Can and Ministry.

    Fish Fantasy Radio [Episode 49]
We're all over the map on this one. There is definitely an indie-electronic vibe as in the last episode but there's also some hip hop, rap and experimental music thrown in for good measure. You'll recognize a few songs from yesteryear and probably some from say, 1999 or 2009. Either way, It's a fishfantasy to be proud of- I sincerely hope you enjoy it, -Deadfish
