Jean-Michel Basquiat was a groundbreaking artist who used an expressive, colorful style to draw attention to marginalized figures and issues affecting the Black community. Katie Mallette, an art teacher at Democracy Prep at the Stewart Campus, joins us to share an art project: how to make a portrait in the style of Basquiat. Making this project with your kids is a great way to learn about this landmark Black artist and celebrate Black History Month.
