    Plot:

The film opens with a guy walking into the pressbox, narating about the 1932 World Series, and Babe Ruth calling his homerun shot. We then shift back to beginning of summer, 1962, and Benny Rodregez getting into and out of rundown. Narator tells how he just moved to the area and has no friends. His father died, and his mother remarried. Bill is seen setting up all his baseball memorebrilla and we see a baseball signed by Babe Ruth. Smalls tells how he followed the guys to The Sandlot and is awed how they just play and play, we're somewhat introduced to 'the beast.' Smalls is hit with a ball and shown he can't throw a ball. he foreshadows about the biggest pickle they've ever been in. Bill attempts to teach Smalls to play catch. Benny gets Smalls to come with him, and we're introduced to the rest of the team: The Timmins brothers, Squints, Yeah Yeah, Bertram, Kenny, and Ham. They hit and catch, Smalls still can't throw the ball. Benny decides to help him, hits a ball directly into his glove, throws it back in, and the guys agree he can stay.

    S:

    -Adult league softball rundown story

-Never understood the hat with the extra long bill... Just another way to show he's not a baseball kid?

    -L7 weenie

-Impossible to hit a ball into a glove

Ham calls his shot, and wiffs. He then hits a home run, and ruins the game because he hit the ball over the fence. Which Smalls attempts to retrive... Before he's stopped by everyone. After warning him, they tell him to quietly peak through thr fence. He sees the ball and a giant paw grabs it. Asking what it is, they all proclaim "Campout." Smalls arrives, is introduced to s'mores, and he's told the legend of The Beast by Squints. 20 years ago, a pup that was fed tons of meat, and was a mindless killer, throwing potential theaves through the air. 120-173 guys were completely eaten. Squints grandfather told The Beasts owner he had to retire him as a guard dog, and has to keep him chained up FOR-EV-VER. Squints and Yea Yea and Squints get a new ball, when they see Wendy Peffercorn. They guys complain that it's too hot to play, so they go to the pool, wehre Wendy is the lifeguard. Squints decides he's had enough of watching Wendy, and jumps in the deep end, where he can't swim. Wendy goes in to rescue him, starts CPR, when things look dire, he opens his eyes and smiles, and puts his hand on her head and kisses her. She throws them out, but ends up smiling and waving to Squints afterwards.

    S:

-Squints was born in 1981, was 12 when they made the movie, Wendy Peffercorn was 19.

-Ham calling girls "sexy" at 12 is weird... The whole Wendy Peffercorn thing is a bit creepy

-You can see Squints smiling when they pull him out of the pool.

We're told that they play one night game a year, on July 4th bc the fireworks light up the sky, they try and watch, but Benny always brings them back. A rival team rides on to the sandlot and insults are traded and a rivalry game set for the next day. Ham keeps razzing all the batters. The Sandlot kids are shown to be much better players. Benny hits a homerun. After they dominate, they decide to celebrate and do what Smalls calls the stupidest thing they'd ever done. At the fair, Bertram breaks out some chewing tobacco, and they al take some and get on a fair ride. About halfway through they obviously start feeling sick, spit out the chaw, and begin to throw up on themselves and others. Bill is shown to be leaving for a work trip the day they get into "the big pickle." After Benny busts the cover off the ball. Upset he ended their day, Smalls offers up he has a ball, and grabs Bills signed ball, no knowing any better. Smalls hits a homerun to the Beast realizing what he's done; he tells them it was a Baby Ruth signed ball, and they freak out. Then start working on how they can fix the problem. They meet up in the tree house and start coming up with plans. They try sticks, a pot, and vaccums. They then drop Yea Yea in, and he comes face to face with the beast, and drops the recently retreived ball. Smalls builds a large erector set to attempt to retrieve the ball. Which fails. Smalls essentaily gives up, but Benny has a dream about Babe Ruth. He tells Benny this is his big chance to do something, that "heros get remembered, but legends never die."

    S:

-Being a catcher and taking 2 to the thigh.

-Story about them being given real chewing tobacco

-Theres no way a kid in the 60's wouldn't know who Babe Ruth is, esp with a huge baseball step-dad.

-Can see the string that pulls the ball to the vaccum.

-Always thought the erector set thing was cool, but not realistic now. Way too advanced for them.

-I definately would've just gone and knocked on the door.

Back at the Sandlot, Benny breaks out the secret weapon, PF Flyers, garunteed to make a kid run faster, jump higher. They try to talk him out of jumping the fence, but he hears Babes workds and goes anwyay. He comes face to face wit the Beast, he runs and gets the ball, but the beast breaks his chain, jumps the fence, and chases him. There's a musical montoge of the chace, thorugh alleys, a picnic, movie theater, the pool, and back to the sandlot. where Benny jumps the fence, and the beast busts though, and it collapses on him. Smalls and Benny free him, and the beast licks Smalls. He shows them where he had been keeping all their balls over the years. Smalls then knocks on the door and James Earl Jones, Mr. Mertle, comes out and identifies the beast as Hercules. He tells them of they had just knocked on the door, he would've gotten it, and they attack Squints. Mr. Mertle invites them in and he's shown to be a huge baseball guy. He trades Bills chewed up ball for one signed by the 1927 Yankees, murders row, Lou Gherig and Babe Ruth. He tells them his backstory of losing his sight, and makes a deal for them to come back and talk baseball with him. Bill was mad, and Smalls was grounded for a week. The voiceover tells about how that first summer was the best, that they kept playing, and when someone would move away, they wouldn't replace them. Yea Yea went to military school, Bertram, got itno the 60's and no one saw them, Timmins brothers became Architect and Contractors, but became multimillionaires when they invented Minimalls, Squits gerw up and married Wendy Peffercorn and they have 9 kids, Ham became a professional wrestler known as the Great Hambino, DeNunes played AAA ball, but never made to the majors, Hercules lived to be 199 years old in dog years, and Smalls was the last one to move away. We learn how he got the nickname "The Jet" and it flashes forward to Benny stealing home, and Smalls is the commentator. Benny gives Smalls a thumbs up and the camera pans to a picture of the gang, and fades to black.

    S:

-The "Wipeout" song was a bit cheesey

-90's thmubs up and the mustache... Sheesh
