Katy Sullivan is an award-winning actress, producer, writer, athlete, bilateral above-the-knee amputee and is the first actress who is an amputee to ever star on Broadway.

Raised by parents who encouraged her to try everything and decided to become an actress. After she got her first pair of running prosthetics at 25, she discovered a love of running and became a four-time US Champion. She was among the first bilateral above-the-knee amputees to compete in the Paralympics in ambulatory track when she ran in the London 2012 Paralympic Games. However, she never lost sight of her dream to become an actor. Among her many acting accolades, Katy has recently made history again. she developed and starred as Annie in the hit show “The Cost of Living” - turning her into the first female amputee to star on Broadway. 

In conversation with Jay, they discuss inclusivity and diversity in theatre, TV, and film and Katy talks about how living with a disability gave her a higher level of adaptation and how her family helped to teach her to believe that “can’t is just four letter word.”

There was lots of big movie news this week, highlighted by one of our favorite punching bags from a few years back. AMC unveiled a new ticket price plan and naturally we are...indifferent about it? We talk about live events versus movie theaters and the performances of 80 for Brady and Knock at the Cabin.

Consecration has everything needed for a discomforting horror film. The poster and images released have been downright frightening, the Scottish location gives the proper gloomy atmosphere, and the acting is spot on. Then comes the story. A suspicious murder that takes place in a creepy abbey has loads of potential.

Instead, the film is one of the most frustrating we have ever talked about. It looks good and the cast do a fine job, but there is just too much going on. What starts as a fishy murder soon involves, the Crusades, half-ass attempts at folk horror,  kids in cages, and nonsensical visits to prisons. At least the nuns laying face down in church looked cool.

Firestarter was one of the worst received movies of 2022. It recently reentered the conversation when its young start was nominated for a Razzie. How could we not watch it? We were expecting an awful movie filled with terrible performances. Is the remake as bad as everyone says? And what does Stranger Things have to do with it?
