In this episode I share pages from ‘Italian Hours’ a travel journal I am in the middle of creating.  I share my feelings about creativity and my artistic process on making pages happen!  I also give tips on stationary, art paper and how to build the momentum one page at a time and not get stuck in feeling overwhelm at the beginning. I talk about art journals and travel journals and at the end read from my art book ‘Italian Hours”…

Joel Mize is the son and nephew of five World War II veterans representing the U.S. Army, Army Air Corps, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Marines Corps. Growing up they were his personal heroes, along with his grandmother, the matriarch of the Putnam family. Deeply patriotic, she worked in the support staff of the Muscle Shoals nitrate plant in World War I and in Mobile's Brookley Air Base during World War II. She set the tone for her sons to follow, and they served both in the European and Pacific fronts as well as in Occupied Japan. In this podcast Joel Mize talks about their war stories and the legacies they left to a young boy coming of age in the postwar era.

Welcome to Episode #10 Amalfi, Campania and the joys and discoveries up in the terraced hillside of Pogerola, Italy.

Certainly this recent podcast had me juggling the creative life and the realities of living in Australia at the end of 2019.  However, I was more than happy to share the days in Amalfi and pages from my book  ‘In the Shadow of a Cypress’ in podcast land.....

Amalfi was a collection of rich moments.  The architecture, the history, the location, the sea and the shades of colourful umbrellas on the beach at Positano certainly captured my spirit.  Moments only a traveler who is open to a little coastal magic can have. 

This episode shares days in the village of Amalfi, Positano and Minori until the inevitable return back to Rome for the last part of the journey.  Andiamo......
