    Breaking Bias for Better Living

    Breaking Bias for Better Living

I wear glasses to correct the distortions in my vision. Everyone has some biases that distort our perception of the world. Some of these thought patterns cause us to stumble in relationships, work, or lifestyle. When we break those biases we can enjoy better living. In this episode I explore common biases, connect with the Disciples of Jesus on a wild night voyage, and offer some ways to change the biased thoughts that can hold us back from well-being.

    Segments include:

    What is a bias? 1:07

Biased Disciples and a Ghost 1:50

    Awareness of my biases 4:20

    Stop what isn’t working 7:22

    Receive ideas from others 8:12

Step back from the crowd 9:35

    Faith for better vision 10:36

Entering the Kingdom Today - Audio

Entering the Kingdom Today - Audio
We all know that we should love God, love people, and serve the world, but how do we become the kinds of people who naturally are more loving? Our new 6 week sermon series will explore what it means to learn from Jesus as His disciples in a practical way. Extra Credit Activity 1: Say to yourself, “Even though I ____, I will not be afraid, for you are with me.” (ex. Even though I got into a nasty fight with someone earlier…Even though I have to go into my horrible work tomorrow that I absolutely hate…)‍ Activity 2: Create your own Beatitude for someone around you. “Blessed are the [describe them], for the kingdom of God is open to them too.” (ex: blessed are the autistic, blessed are the hard-to-get-along-with, the kind of awkward, etc.)Reading: Matthew 4:17-7:29, preferably in one sittingReflection/Activity: Read the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-10). What “unblessable” condition do you face (ex. Poor, ugly, incompetent, shy, awkward, etc.)? Say out loud to yourself “Blessed am I, for the kingdom of heaven is available and accessible to me!”‍

Is A Boomer Too Old To Disciple Gen Z?- Rev. Robin T Jennings

Is A Boomer Too Old To Disciple Gen Z?- Rev. Robin T Jennings

Rev Robin T Jennings is a father and grandfather, author and speaker. His book “A Letter to the Church and the Next Generation: Spiritual Growth through the Witness of James” is a walk through the book of James with steps that teach readers how to disciple the next generation. Rev Jennings, a Baby Boomer himself, believes that the older generation has a critical role to play in the lives of Millennials and GenZ. And I agree wholeheartedly! We chat about Spiritual growth and how to achieve that, the importance of surrender and vulnerability in discipleship, and how to build a bridge between generations from both sides.
