But, love know no boundaries - and just like Cleetus we all have to take the high road and go on to date a bank teller anyway. This episode features Sheriff Little and is the second episode after the shift to the wide push bar General Lee. Also noted in this episode, no-one suffered from food poisoning and was stricken with vomiting and diarrhea for 4 hours straight.

K&F Show Summary:

January 2024 marks the 45th anniversary of the Dukes of Hazzard. "One Armed Bandits" is the first episode that started it all, and one of the 5 filmed on location in Georgia before it would be relocated to California for the remainder of the series. For purists, the first 5 episodes (and this in particular) is as good, gritty, and as pure as it gets. For me... it's just that weird one they would show in re-runs that was so different than all of the "real" ones from the later seasons I was used to. (I like campy Hollywood-ized versions of stuff.)

Anyway, this is the episode where Bo and Luke play Robin Hood - and commit a criminal act against a criminal (Boss Hogg) - to give to the poor. This proves the statement that two wrongs can make a right, apparently. Bo and Luke meet with Cooter in the Starsky and Hutch Torino along with Blake Lively’s dad, burglarize a truck filled with slot machines, place them around town, give the proceeds to the poor, and give the credit to Rosco, helping him get re-elected. Most of the scenes from the opening credit for the run of the show come from this episode and we get to settle once and for all which General Lee of the 3 used in this episode….really came first.

K&F Show Summary: We are back for 2024! Unfortunately, the first show of the year for us will kick off with a memorial tribute to the late great Cale Yarborough. Cale passed away on Dec 31, 2023. He was an ironman in NASCAR certainly, but many of us met him initially due to his guest starring roles during Season 2 and Season 7 of the Dukes of Hazzard.

Instead of re-reviewing both of these episodes we decided to dedicate this episode to telling the life story of Cale himself. (Full links to both of his episodes are below, and we encourage you to listen to them as well.)

There  will be facts here that some of you may know, but many of us didn’t. He was the first ever three-in-a-row NASCAR champion, a record only met (and then broken) by Jimmie Johnson. He won four Daytona 500’s, inclyding two back to back in 1983 and 1984. He pioneered CBS-TV’s use of the John Porter-Peter Larson in-car camera that could tilt and pan, footage of which was used in the Season 7 episode he appeared on during the Dukes.

He won the 1983 Daytona 500 in a backup car from a Hardees fast-good restaurant….after flipping his new-for-1983 Monte Carlo in qualifying at 204MPH. He taught himself how to fly an airplane. Possibly most famously, during the first ever flag-to-flag showing of the Daytona 500 on TV, he and the Bobby Allison got in a terrible fight after Cale and Donnie Allison (Bobby’s brother) wrecked for the win on the last lap.

RIP Cale.

K&F Show Summary: 

Happy Hazzard-o-ween! This isn’t a specifically dedicated Halloween episode….but it may as well be. Whilst Bo and Luke are hiding from Rosco they get naked and go skinny dipping…leaving their clothes in the General Lee. Seconds later the General is stolen by two crooked gamblers who jump the car (and the clothes) in the pond. Rosco and Enos assume it was Bo and Luke all along, find their clothes, assume they were dismembered, and hijinks ensue when Boss frames them for theft of ....something. Doesn’t matter what. Anyway, to clear themselves they pretend to still be dead and trick Rosco into believing their spirits inhabit the General Lee, which now glows in the dark and appears to drive by itself. Wrongs are righted and it’s nice, funand spooky Halloween episode all around.

This is a special edition K&F Show! Kibbe was gone with some "unexplained commitments", so Corndog put Bernie in charge to get an episode recorded and out the door. It was there that our man Bernie was able to get Clay Millican on the show, live an in person at the Dallas NHRA event!

Bo and Luke get conned - accidentally - by Cooter - into driving for a bad guy that’s being watched by the stage police, and possibly the feds. What’s he being watched for you ask? Human trafficking? Meth manufacturing and distribution? Ponzi schemes designed to keep little old ladies out of the old folks home and living in the gutter? No….none of those….he’s doing something far worse. This piece of human scum…..is selling…..stolen racing engines! He hides these sweet engines in demo derby cars to transport them out of the county and state, which keeps the feds easily at bay.

Bo and Luke get accused of being a part of it….and they have to drive demo derby cars as a result. And we dear viewers get treated to the sloppy General lee preparation that we love most in this early seasons, including the General Lee I love most - the one they pull up in the race track in. Paul Baxley brings in outstanding camera shots and jumps that would win him an Oscar today, and all is right with the world. 14-inch vectors for everyone!

The Dukes of Hazzard - at the absolute height of it’s popularity and power bring us a double length episode featuring a plethora of terribly painted General Lee’s, a seriously annoying manipulative woman, Dukes fighting Dukes, and a lesson on parenting only Uncle Jesse could give. The Dukes go see a Joe Chitwood stunt show. (It’s not called that in the show directly for marketing reasons, but that’s what it is.) The show is run by it’s second generation owner Diane, a woman who will cuddle up to any man who be be her star attraction driver. When the most recent guy nearly gets killed she suckers Bo into being the next man in. Luke sees through it, Bo gets hot headed and punches everyone in the way, and Uncle Jesse is left to guide a situation he cannot stop, but must direct before his family explodes. Boss and the lead carnival guy both try to kill the General Lee in the process and fail, but the General does what he does best; gives his boys a fighting chance to win the day…and they do by making the 32 car jump.

Finally - the political Dukes episode we’ve been waiting for! Kinda. If there was an episode that could combine Nathan Warren with Ben Jones portraying Cooter, this would be it. Cooter - with God’s blessed skills - steals President Jimmy Carter’s car.Bo and Luke get him out of it, but not before using their smoking hot cousin to position herself as a faux-prostitute to distract the bad guys. Who are the bad guys in this one you ask? Boss Hogg - who has a car theft and chop shop ring. And Boss thinks his guys stole the car and wants it recovered to meet Jimmy Carter personally, but in the end it’s Uncle Jesse that gets the call of thanks from the Oval Office. And before the episode is over we will once and for all know whether Boss and Uncle Jesse are Republicans or Democrats. The 2024 Presidential race had nothing on this!

The bad guys get some engraving plates - made by starving artist Granny Annie - so that they can counterfeit $5 bills. Granny accidentally pays Bo and Luke with phony money, they get busted for it, Boss Hogg gets the plates from Granny, Bo and Luke steal them back, they save his life, the end.

Also in this episode....some wicked door impacts on the General Lee and the record setting 230-foot long Oxnard train jump by Al Wyatt. If that’s not enough, the episode begins - yes - BEGINS with the Oak Ridge Boys doing some lip syncing like lips have never been synced before. And then James Best puts on an acting clinic that leaves the show telling the moral if always helping a friend in need, not matter what they’ve done to you. Put it all together and you have a tidy little episode. 10 Dogs.

K&F Show Summary: Friends, for a lot of you this one has been a long time coming. This is our review of the Andy Samberg movie "Hot Rod." It's the tale of Rod, a young Evil Knievel wanna be stuntman, who makes his quest in life to do killer stunts to earn enough money to pay for his step father's heart transplant. And that....is about as serious as it gets. Rod cannot grow a mustache, so he uses a fake one during his stunts. To quell his anger, he does gymnastics in the forest until he falls down the side of a mountain for about 2 minutes. His loser buddies build his ramps and light his fireworks. If there's a school bus to jump, he's your man. He won't make it, but he's your man anyway. It's stupid, slapstick, musical, and pure comedic genius in every way. 10 Corndogs from all of us!

K&F Show Summary: In the mind of Corndog, this movie is the ’69 Charger movie of movies. I think he’d even rather have a DMCL (screen used) Charger than a screen used General Lee. He’s crazy, because this super weird 1974 box office smash starring Peter Fonda is a whacked-out example of what happens when directors and actors all use drugs while making a movie. The only redeeming thing is the stunts and the Charger. Al Wyatt, Jr is in it though, so maybe this is where he and the Charger first melded together to form the most dynamic duo ever on automotive cinematic history. Watch it for the car stunts and the helicopter flying and skip the rest. (Editor’s Note: Kibbe is the only one of the three of us that feel this way, but since he’s the guy that types this stuff up his opinion is what counts the most, apparently.)

KF Show Summary: If there were ever an episode where I learned the love of a good car, it was this! Luke gets hypnotized into selling the General Lee so that Boss can have it demolished (i.e. murdered) and out of his life, once and for all. And as the smartest and best shot Duke boy….he does what no one else could do; not Boss, Rosco, Uncle Jesse, the President of the United States, or even Bo…..he gets rid of the General. And by doing so unknowingly sentences the General to death. And when it looks like the General is indeed doomed, Cooter without hesitation gambles his life to get the General back - and wins. And then Luke comes to his senses. And then he without hesitation gambles his life to save the General. And wins. All to save the life of a car….that as we know is just an inanimate object, but for some reason seems as alive to us as our dog. We’ve all had a car or a truck that we knew we loved and that loved us back. This episode sends that home.This is also the episode that we see the new look of the General that will last until the show ends. 10 Dogs.

In this KF episode, kick back to hear a feature interview that will tickle the ear drums and whatever the thing is that makes that "ASMR" stuff so brain-tingly appealing. Specifically, in this one we are re-playing the very first "OG" discussion between Kibbe and Corndog, circa 2014. It was a feature interview on The MuscleCar Place back during a simpler time, and a time when young Corndog was just stretching his might of General Lee knowledge into the internetspehere. Kibbe tracked him down due to his mighty flexing of knowledge on Dukes of Hazzard forums and had to know how this guy knew so much about the General Lee.

Long story short, it was this interview that launched the era of Dukes of Hazzard nerdlandia into The MuscleCar Place podcast network in a permanent way. The KF Show as we know if today (and Kibbe Lee) are all a result!

Also....we couldn't record a "regular" show this week and had to pun next week. We needed to run something....so here ya go. The Bernie on the News is new and fun though, and thanks to Jason Roberts for hanging out with Bernie last week.

Last July Stellantis announced a plan to invest over $35 billion in the development of electric vehicles through 2025. And while the announcement blended in with similar declarations throughout the automotive sector, it had to stand out for those still attached to iconic gasoline-powered brands … like, maybe Dodge.

Well, if the writing was on the wall last summer, it’s now on screens and desks throughout the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based automaker. Earlier this week Dodge announced it will unveil seven special edition Charger and Challenger models in 2023 as a goodbye to the muscle cars that put it on the map in the late 1960s.

According to a release from the company, “The Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger, in current form, are coming to an end.” 

But they’ll be going out in style.

Next year, Dodge will produce seven gas-powered commemorative models that the company is describing as "heritage-influenced" to “celebrate in true, over-the-top Dodge style." There’s no word on whether the company’s Chief Donut Office will be involved.

While Dodge is talking about the end of an era in retiring the Charger and Challenger, some reports indicate that Dodge could follow the path of Ford’s latest Mustang, with electric versions of both models potentially appearing down the road.

In fact, earlier this week an electric concept of the Charger was unveiled.

The gas-powered Challenger and Charger both outsold the Mustang last year, with just over 78k Chargers being sold, followed by 54k Challengers, along with just over 52k Mustangs. 

While no preliminary designs have been released for the grand farewell, Dodge is touting the return of several colors from the vehicle’s past, as well as an expansion of the popular SRT Jailbreak options that allow buyers to customize the paint color, and other aesthetics like pinstriping, model badges, brake caliper colors, tires, wheel designs and interior features like the seats and steering wheel.

A commemorative brushed aluminum "Last Call" plaque will also be placed under the vehicle’s hoods.

More details on six of the models will be released later this year, with the final vehicle being unveiled at the 2022 Specialty Equipment Market Association, or SEMA show in early November.

The cars will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis at Dodge’s top-selling dealerships.
