Mobility Issues Can't Stop This Adventure Dog & Review of Pattaconk Reservoir Loop CT

Mobility Issues Can't Stop This Adventure Dog & Review of Pattaconk Reservoir Loop CT

Episode 10 of the Snorts, Slobber & K9 Adventures Podcast and is all about @tonkas_journey a truly adorable and amazing adventure dog.

Tonka had a rough start to life.  He was born with bilateral elbow luxation, which means he was unable to use his front legs.  He was born to an inexperienced backyard breeder who couldn’t afford to pay for his medical needs.  Fortunately, that breeder was compassionate enough to surrender him to a rescue so he could get the care he needed.

After several surgeries and lots of physical therapy, Tonka landed with Naja Mueller and is not only living his best life, he has become an adventure dog extraordinaire.  Yes, he still has some mobility issues, but Tonka doesn't let that slow him down.  For those who think special needs dogs can’t adventure, well, you haven’t met Tonka.  He rides ATVs, he swims, he uses a wagon to explore trails, and he makes everyone who meets him smile.

One of Tonka’s favorite adventure spots is the Pattaconk Reservoir Loop Trail in CT, and Naja gives some great insight into why this is a trail you may want to check out.

Tune in  to hear Tonka’s story and prepared to be inspired.    And don’t forget to visit k9adventurespodcast.com and our IG feed @k9adventurespodcast for more great content.

Adventures of a Therapy Dog and Review of Cascade Falls Loop Trail - MD

Picture a six month old hound dog who, for the first six months of his life, lived outside in a hoarder type environment.  That doesn’t exact conjure up images of a therapy dog or of an adventure dog, does it?   Well, the story of @winston_the_aussie_coonhound is a rags to riches lifestyle story that is sure to make any dog lover smile.

Winston's parents fell in love with him as soon as they saw him and gave him a loving home as well as a purpose.  As Kristin, Winston's mom, shares, Winston's personality makes him the perfect therapy dog, and he absolutely loves his therapy work.

And if you aren’t exactly sure what a therapy dog is, well, Kristin really breaks it down and explains the difference between a therapy dog, service dog, and emotional support animal.  She also provides an easy explanation regarding the process needed to get your dog certified.

When Winston is not bringing smiles to people's faces through his therapy work, he can be found exploring with his parents and hound brother, Reno.  His IG feed is filled with some great educational content regarding therapy dogs as well as awesome pictures and reels highlighting his various adventures with his family.  There is no doubt that Winston is an adventure dog through and through.  And one of his favorite adventure spots is the Cascade Falls  Loop Trail in Maryland.  In the second half of this episode, Kristin provides some key tips you are not going to want to miss about this spot.
