    Trauma Triggered in the Pack

    Trauma Triggered in the Pack

We all have triggers but animals sometimes have a hard time communicating theirs to us. On this week's episode, we are talking about trauma triggers and more specifically in a pack setting in a home full of dogs.  Bryn and Laura found themselves having to separate 2 of their dogs as they fought over food leading to a late night trip to the vet. So what happens next? Do dogs hold grudges? How does their first interaction back together work? Bryn speaks on some of the therapeutic effects that letting go can have on the mind body and soul for all creatures while Laura talks about some of the ways her own fears have interfered in the healing process between dogs. It's up to us to try and listen as best we can while helping our dogs stay in a growth mindset of working through traumas from their past. So join us as we discuss being trauma triggered in a pack.

Breaking Up a Dog Fight, part 1

Breaking Up a Dog Fight, part 1

Carlos & I discuss the techniques WE use to break up a dog fight.

DISCLAIMER: Dog fights are not all the same. Dogs fighting can be fighting for different reasons. Dogs fighting are usually not evenly matched. Breaking up dog fights is a skill that can be learned but it is risky and it is definitely not for most people to attempt. It requires confidence, timing, quickness, agility, and strength. Breaking up a dog fight can be very dangerous both to the people trying to intervene as well as the dogs in the fight. Do not try these techniques on your own at home without consulting a professional.

The video we mention is on YouTube and entitled "How to handle a Dog fight - Cesar Millan" posted by Peter F. Zorko. There's a very good comment left by "stuart" from 4 years ago that appears at the top of the list of comments below the video.
