Ein Heavy-Metal-Meilenstein, der nicht zuletzt auch wegweisend für Black Metal war und ist.

    Episode 55: Grace Slick "Dreams"
    Sie zählt neben Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin und Bob Dylan zu den Musik-Ikonen der 1960er Jahre. Sie sang “White Rabbit”, den Drogensong schlechthin und war die erste Person die im US-amerikanischen TV das Wort “Motherfucker” sagte. Die Rede ist von keiner anderen als Grace Slick, die, nachdem sie Sängerin bei Jefferson Airplane und Jefferson Starship war, ihre eigenen Wege ging und 1980 ihr zweites Soloalbum “Dreams” veröffentlichte, um welches es in der 55. Episode der PLATTNEREI gehen soll. Pint und Kain, eure Podcast-Engel der Nacht, begeben sich auf eine analytische Reise durch ein Album, welches abwechslungseicher nicht sein könnte. Stets in Balance zwischen Kraft und Zurückhaltung geht es von feurigen Flamencomelodien und blusigem Rock über Volkstänze und Lovesongs bis in die Gefilde des orchestralen Bombast. Verführungen und Alkoholsucht, Sehnsucht und verpasste Chancen, Magie, Transzendenz, spirituelles Wachstum und die Schönheit in allem, diese Episode geht tief.

    Was passiert, wenn Motörhead, W.A.S.P., Iron Maiden, Slayer und Running Wild gemeinsam eine Platte aufnehmen?
    Richtig: heraus kommt “Heaven Into Dust”, die zweite Langspielrille der Screaming-Black-Speed-Metal-Punk-Jungs von Knife. Von Killern, Kriegen, Kirchenbrand zu Hades, Hexen und Hannibal.
    Auch bei ihrem Nachfolgewerk zu dem selbstbetitelten 2021er Debüt kennen Knife kein Erbarmen.
    Hier wurde ein Album geschaffen, dass einem regelrecht das Gesicht schmilzt. Da sind Pint und Kain sich einig.
     Nebenbei werden dann auch noch mehr oder weniger fokussiert diverse andere Fragen beantwortet.
    Weiß der Geier was es mit den Kampfflugzeug-Habichten auf sich hat?
    Wie spricht man Batik, Fanzine, Refrain und Laz Cultro aus? Jedenfalls anders als Kain Morgenmeer es tut.

    Episode 53: Bathory "Blood On Ice"
    Quorthon und Bathory sind Namen, die jeder (Black)Metalhead kennt. Wegbereiter für Black und Viking Metal, Mythos und Legende. Zu früh gestorben hinterließ Quorthon ein tonnenschweres Erbe. Nben einer Reihe von Albumklassikern veröffentlichte er mit Bathory im Jahr 1996 das Album “Blood On Ice”. Aufgenommen in den Jahren 1988 und 1989 entstand ein Konzeptalbum rund um eine anonyme Hauptfigur, die in einer archaischen Zeit einen Überfall auf ihr Dorf überlebte, im Wald aufwuchs, auf Rache sann und sich mit Einäugigen, Hexen, Pferden, Raben, See und Schwert verbündete, um in einer finalen Schlacht die finsteren Mächte niederzumetzeln und als Champion der Götter zu triumphieren. Conan? Manowar? Nordische Mythologie? Ja, nein, vielleicht. Auf jeden Fall ein Juwel, welches wir in der 53. Episode PLATTNEREI besprechen.

Ein Werk, welches für seine kaum wahrnehmbaren Bassspuren bekannt ist, aber auch für seine filigrane und komplexe Finesse. Über das neue Metallica-Album können ja alle reden, hier wird sich auf die Klassiker besonnen. Mit Vollkraft voraus in die Vergangenheit!
