#101 Beast Mode Kids - Favorite Episode and Dressing Up

#101 Beast Mode Kids - Favorite Episode and Dressing Up

Pat and Alora get right after it talking about their favorite past episodes. There have been some great ones like, the Mandela Effect and the Cereal Challenge.
We can only hope that there are many more milestones for us to chat about in the future.

Funny about Dressing Up - there was some miscommunication of what that meant and its comical.

Also, the beginning of the episode Pat apologizes to Alora for throwing her a hard curve prerecording and then getting angry at her for not having an answer.

Guess what parents, that is not a fair thing to do to your children or anyone else. Pat had the reminder that his and Alora's brain are different and he can't have the same kind of expectation of her as he has for himself.

Nate and Mitch are Feeling Spooky

Nate and Mitch are Feeling Spooky

Halloween is upon us, and Nate and Mitch are feeling spooky!

The boys start things off by discuss wrestling by tying it in to their last weeks discussion. We're tanning specific parts of the body while sounding like Obama. After a few opening bits of banter, we get into the topic at hand: Halloween. Candy, dressing up, trick 'r treating, etc. We cover it all and having the fillings to show for it! Tight five returns with maybe a tweet edition? You be the judge. It also gets completely derailed by a joke not exactly being worded correct. The Goon Tribe t-shirt idea? We got those. After a classic Mitch pee break, we get into talking about a particular librarian we both had. We also talk about a different name for balls by a recalled childhood story from Mitch. The legend of the robot voice comes out to play and finish the episode out.

At the end of the day, it's all love. Enjoy dressing up, have a piece of candy, throw on a horror movie of your choice and enjoy this year's Halloween festivities (socially distanced of course)

Nate and Mitch are Feeling Spooky, and we hope you are, too.

    Bethan Laura Wood on laminate.

Bethan Laura Wood is a London-based designer, who creates pieces for industry and the collectible market. In this episode she talks about her love for the material that made her name nearly a decade ago – laminate.

A wide-ranging (and occasionally hugely intimate) discussion touches on the Royal College of Art graduate’s fascination with turning the ubiquitous into the precious, as well as focussing on her love of colour.

However, she also tells us about her childhood growing up a little bit different in Shrewsbury; how being teased at school encouraged a sense of style that she has described as ‘Buckaroo meets Russian dolls’; and why her dyslexia may have encouraged a fascination with pattern.

We also hear about her mother’s collection of fake fruit, which can’t be a bad thing. It’s a fascinatingly personal story from a genuinely unique design talent.

Episode 25- Astrid Zayas: Daring to dig Deep

Episode 25- Astrid Zayas: Daring to dig Deep

“I am a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world” song by Aqua.

In this new episode of B2B, Astrid Zayas takes us on a journey of sharing how she went from getting rid of a lifelong of "you are beautiful" stereotype that she saw more of a contradiction (hint, hint, she didn't feel beautiful) to using that experience to help others let go of the image they were labeled as kids and create an image that best reflects who they really are.

    In ASTRID WORDS:

Pretty? Maybe, but Beautiful, definitely not. The word sounded too big in my head, too arrogant. My mind would say: “Who do you think you are? Beautiful, really?”

I constantly thought: What if I don’t have that image of what beautiful is supposed to look like? Perfectly shaped curves, long silky hair, small waist, small narrow feet and feminine delicate hands.

Would they love me? Would they pay attention to me?

What if I don’t fit into that mold, would I be loved? Would I be noticed?

I just wanted to be loved and I did everything in my power to resemble that image of beauty. For instance, wearing smaller shoes so my feet would look smaller and pretty and not flat like they are.

I became what I hated the most, an object, a “Barbie Girl” and it manifested in every area of my life. School, Work and Relationships.

The funny and sad thing is that I showed a Perfect Image to the world, perfect life, perfect family, perfect Astrid while in the inside I was fighting what it represented, the shallowness.

This objectification from family, society and myself is really absurd and disturbing. I accepted it, breathed and lived it. And I HATED IT.

It has taken me a lot of years of deep personal work to change my belief system and to recognize that I am so much more than just an object.

    I am smart

    I am creative

    I am persistent

    I am strong

    I laugh easily

I love with my whole heart

I love to dance and have fun

Knowing, understanding and appreciating those qualities in me gave me the courage to leave my corporate job and start leading a more fulfilling life. A life where I can help others let go of the image they were labeled as kids and create an image that best reflects who they really are.

Today, I am understanding that I can be Beautiful and that doesn’t mean that I am an object. I get to choose.
    Besos,

    Astrid
