'Red Deer Dream Centre' || Dr. VINCE ALIBERTI (Executive Director)

On October 17th, 2022, the Red Deer Dream Centre will be opening to serve Central Alberta, helping those in recovery!

The RDDC is a community-based, non-profit organization that helps people find purpose in living life in #recovery from addictions to drugs and alcohol.

Dr. Vincenzo (Vince) Aliberti, Ph.D. is an Author, Business Strategist and Mental Health Advocate with over 20+ years of leadership, corporate strategy, organizational effectiveness, and business transformation experience across a variety of industries.

He has written numerous books in the personal development genre including: Achieve Your Greatness, 4 Truths, Reflections: Living Lessons On Living One Day At A Time, A Heroâs Journey: Soulful Leadership, and Mental Health: A Toolkit For A Good Life.

Always giving back to the community, he is currently the Executive Director of the Red Deer Dream Centre, an impact speaker with the United Way of Calgary, and a former Senator with the University of Calgary. Currently, as an international speaker, he is addressing unignorable issues including intergenerational trauma, addictions & recovery, and personal and professional mental health.

He holds a Ph.D. in Economic Geography from Western University specializing in Mergers & Acquisitions and Foreign Direct Investment.

'Finding My Why' || MEAGAN ODENTHAL

Welcome, Meagan to the show!
This episode branches off from the alcohol (although that is still part of her recovery story).

Meagan is a fentanyl OD survivor. She had taken a pill that was laced with a dangerous amount of the substance and it nearly killed her.

The story is absolutely amazing and I am so honoured to have had Meagan here to be so open about it.

Topics include:
- Meagan married her high school sweetheart
- They've lived in the Long Island area for the majority of their lives, with a 5 year stint in Virginia
- She comes from an Irish family (very stoic and lots of drinking)
- Divorced parents
- Her family always glorified drinking

- In her mid-20s the drinking led to drug use
- Meagan felt in the shadow of her husband's successes
- After a chest injury, her doctor prescribed her Vicodin
- She found Vicodin to help her feel "normal"

- The couple tried to leave the drugs behind as they entered their 30s
- Meagan found that she wasn't facing what was going on inside her, emotionally
- she started using again, hiding it from her husband
- she had a 2.5-year sober stretch which saw her have the couple's son
- the birth was traumatic and she suffered from postpartum depression

- Meagan started using it again soon thereafter
- the justifications were she would use outside of the house

I will leave the details of the OD for you to hear in her own words. It is a crazy story.

Since then, Meagan has been sober for 3+ years (March 3rd, 2019)!

She is doing some AMAZING work and I want you all to check it out.
She is a very experienced Coach and Counsellor and has started to add some elements of mysticism to her coaching style.

Hi, My name is Meagan. I am an astrology practicing, animal-loving, mom, wife, friend, peer recovery advocate, and RECOVERY WARRIOR of three years! I love to read, write, sing, dance (not well), craft, paint and explore. I wanted to create a sacred space for mothers and women in recovery to connect. My wish is for this to be a place of inclusion. A judgement-free zone where we can celebrate our accomplishments, and be real about our struggles. Motherhood is HARD, addiction is HARD, but both can be amazingly beautiful at the same time. I wanted to create a place where women could come and show their stripes boldly and proudly. Imperfection is beautiful, humility is beautiful, and acceptance and surrender are beautiful.
