Psycho Bob Says Who is Ray Harryhausen?

Psycho Bob Says Who is Ray Harryhausen?

In this 10-minute installment, Psycho Bob the Cat & Shakin Shaner explore the films and legacy of special effects and animator Ray Harryhausen. Join them as they discuss "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms", "Jason and Argonauts" and "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad."

In “Whats Shakin with Shaner’s” recent episode of Hercules v Heracles, our good friend Randy mentioned that he first got interested in Greek Mythology from watching the 1963 movie, “Jason and Argonauts.” The special effects were provided by Ray Harryhausen.

Ray Harryhausen was an American-British animator and special effects creator who developed the technique of rear and front projecting footage one frame at a time while animating to do stop-motion on a budget. This technique, which he named Dynamation, is still used by stop-motion animators today.

Titans, Animal Allies & Yor (Clash of the Titans, The Beastmaster & Yor: The Hunter from the Future)

Time to cleanse your palate of all that horror! Grab your swords and sandals, call out to your animal allies and get ready to cut some choice dinosaur meats! First up, Perseus must find a way to become the Gorgon slayer, or the Princess Andromeda will be served up as fish food for the Kraken, in Clash of the Titans (1981)! A complete lunatic, and his trio of witches, are out to sacrifice the children of the local townspeople to their god. It's up to Dar, along with his furry and feathered pals, to put an end to the madness, in The Beastmaster (1982)! And then from there, a science fiction/fantasy epic, featuring one of the most incredible theme songs of all time! It can only be Yor, the Hunter from the Future (1983)! Beware the beast of the night, or you'll need a lot more hemp before you're through with this journey!
