In this episode you will hear: (07:51) In this week’s news segment, an article from New York Times, “As Students Struggle With Stress and Depression, Colleges Act as Counselors”, by Brad Wolverton. This article dives into the efforts made by schools to address the increasing need for mental health services for college students. Wolverton shares several examples of how colleges are investing in their counseling staff and resources, forcing many schools to rethink their treatment strategies.     (19:31) We are in Chapter 99 of 171 Answers and we’re talking through what you need to know about the very-important FAFSA. Anika and Mark each share five or six important things everyone should know about the FAFSA.   (29:49) This week’s question is from Gail from New Jersey and she wants to know if it is a bad strategy to apply to one school in the early decision round – and wait for that decision, before applying to other schools. Anika begins by sharing her opinion and then Mark explains his view. Mark regards this book as one of the most profound books he has read in his life. We fortunate to have Michael Cameron, Assistant Director of Admission at Brown University. Brown University is one of the 8 Ivy League colleges.

Michael brings more than a decade of enrollment management and marketing experience to his current position at Brown. Prior to joining Brown, he served in various admission roles in a broad range of institutions where he developed his ability to define and identify “fit” in the admission process. Guided by his passion for access and inclusion in higher education, Michael earned a Masters in Higher Education Administration from New York University where he also served as Senior Assistant Director of Admission and team leader for four of the undergraduate schools within the University. Prior to this, Michael’s love of the arts brought him to Ringling College of Art and Design where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree.
