Big Economic Crash Could Hit America Soon. Here's the Proof

Important new economic data reveals America could be heading toward a massive crash. If past performance is indicative of the future of the United States, then we are in huge trouble. Justin Haskins explains in his latest episode of "The Justin Haskins Show."

Ep. 196 The Recession, Marriage Problems & Following God's Law | The Debrief Podcast with Matt Brown

Ep. 196 The Recession, Marriage Problems & Following God's Law | The Debrief Podcast with Matt Brown

    Show Questions:

    Cold Open:

We’re living with an uncertain economy right now with experts saying that we are entering into a recession…What advice would you give to young people who are just starting to figure out their careers and finances during economic times like this?

    Episode Questions:

Anonymous, Moreno Valley: On your last Debrief, you brought up a couple that wanted a divorce, and you basically said the husband needed to man up and put in the work to save his marriage and family. My question is, what do you say to a couple when one of the spouses still wants to leave the marriage even after they’ve put in the work to heal it? Turning around broken relationships doesn’t seem as just “putting in the work.”

Mindie, Menifee: “I've read Exodus many times; I'm just now recognizing that God foretold of their slavery to Abraham back in Genesis 15. As I'm reading through Exodus, chapter 1, I can't help but think of the moms and dads to little boys that were not Moses' parents. How do I justify the fact that God didn't save all of those boys too? I know he saved many through the midwives, but then Pharaoh commanded them to be thrown into the Nile. My heart is sad for them. How do you defend those who are angry with God or don't wish to follow God because of a situation like this in his word?”

Jonathan, Moreno Valley: “In regards to love and law, can you explain what Paul is talking about in Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ “Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.”

Thank you, Pastor Matt. Praying for you and Sandals”

Josh, Riverside: “Pastor Craig Groeschel says that everyone is a leader because everyone has influence over someone. You speak a lot of men being boys. I want to be the best leader/Christian I can possibly be. I want to be able to properly lead my family, future sons and daughters, future wife, potentially future flock (If the Lord even has me lead one), and honestly, anyone that the Lord puts into my life. How do I know that I am ready to be a leader?”

What Recession Means for Your Business with Heather Lahtinen

165 - If you've listened to the news lately, you've probably heard the economy is basically a flaming dumpster fire: sky-high inflation, a looming recession, and mortgage rates rising like an early-pandemic sourdough. To all that, Heather Lahtinen says, "So what?"

When it comes to what the current economy means for your business, Heather—who's adding Certified Money Coach to her pages-long Curriculum Vitae—has some thoughts. And here's a clue: Don't try using "recession" as an excuse to avoid marketing. Not on Heather's watch!

    What To Listen For:

    • The simple 3-step business plan, no matter the economy
    • How to know if we're in a recession (**trick-question alert**)
    • What the "lipstick effect" means for your biz
    • The mic-drop moment that's really good news!
    • Why Heather believes that ignorance is bliss

If you're feeling anxious or—dog forbid—feeling defeated by the economic forecasts, you definitely need this episode. Fire it up and find out why the current climate is actually *good* news for photographers like you!

    007: Generations: Gen Y (Millennials)

    007: Generations: Gen Y (Millennials)
We're continuing our Generations series, and this time we're jumping forward to the 1990's and the Millennial generation. Millennials are the first digital natives in our world. Yes, they know how the Internet works, created social media, and have an unexplainable affinity for avocado toast, but they also have a much deeper story to tell. Generation Y, more commonly known as "Millennials," is the generational classification for anyone born between 1981 and 1996. This week Elliott, who is a Millennial himself, sits down with three other Millennials -- Leslie Chacon, Cristina Fernandes, and Eric Stanley. All three of them have been a part of our church for years. Each has served in our youth program, The Bridge. Leslie is also an active worship leader in our Sunday morning band, and Cristina has also helped our with our Trail Life kids group. In this conversation, we dive deep into just what makes a Millennial, what are the things that drive them, and how they view the world. We also explore the effects of how they emerged from college into the Great Recession of the mid 2000's, how the lack of jobs and housing crisis affected them and altered their goals in life, and how this all affects how they view the world compared to previous generations. And yes, the avocado toast came up once or twice. We also discuss how their experiences have affected how Millennials view the church and how the church deals with current issues in the world as well as how the churc can best meet and minister to their age group. In our Lightning Round, we take a trip back to the late 90's and early 2000's to reminisce on the trends of the day, including clothing styles and musical tastes. This is the Millennial story. Pandemic Stress (with Vikram Patel, Mary-Jo DelVecchio Good, and Giuseppe Raviola)

Pandemic Stress (with Vikram Patel, Mary-Jo DelVecchio Good, and Giuseppe Raviola)

Whether or not you’ve been exposed to the virus, the COVID-19 pandemic impacts everyone’s sense of well-being. Three scholars in the field of global mental health look at the various ways loss, fear, anxiety—and on top of it, a massive global recession—weigh on the mental well-being of different groups. And they anticipate a surge in demand for mental health services as a result of the pandemic.

Although the contemporary world has never seen the likes of such economic contraction as we have now, the recession of 2008 might be an instructive case. Vikram Patel, professor of global health and population, explains what is known about the mental health impacts stemming from that recent recession. Mary-Jo DelVecchio Good, a sociologist and medical anthropologist, gets inside the mind and experiences of the doctors and healthcare workers who are taking care of us (and it’s not necessarily what you would expect). And psychiatrist Dr. Giuseppe Raviola gives an unflinching look at what American families and kids are struggling with during lockdown.

The scholars also discuss the fraught state of mental health service delivery in the US, and advocate for adopting an approach to mental health services very different from the US’s hierarchical system of licensed specialists.

Finally, our guests confront the great disparities in the hardships this pandemic creates: in short, wealthy people are doing just fine and have all the advantages, while for others, the pandemic has taken away so many of the resources they once had, causing enduring stress.

Disclaimer: This podcast was recorded on May 22, 2020 when the US had approximately 1.5 million positive COVID-19 cases.

    Host:

Kathleen Molony, Director, Weatherhead Scholars Program.

Mary-Jo DelVecchio Good, Faculty Associate. Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine, Department of Global Health and Social Medicine, Harvard Medical School, and Department of Sociology, Harvard University. For the past thirty years, she has cohosted the Friday Morning Seminar in Culture, Psychiatry, and Global Mental Health at the Weatherhead Center.

Giuseppe (“Bepi”) Raviola, is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist, and the Director of Mental Health for Partners in Health, a Boston-based humanitarian healthcare organization that serves ten countries. Is it TOO LATE for Financial Security in America? KRLA Broadcast
Just your luck. You've been trying to save for retirement or just build wealth over the last 12 years, and you couldn't have picked aworse time. Consider the challenges we've faced as an economy: * The bursting of the Tech Bubble in 2000 * The terrorist attacks of 9/11 * The housing boom of 2003-2007, followed by the biggest bust since the Great Depression * The continuing repercussions of the debt bubble; from chaos in Europe, to an American economy addicted to stimulus 13 years of lost growth potential on your savings is no small setback! How can most Americans even dream of a secure retirement if the next 10 years looks like the last 10 years? Yes, the rules have changed! But, if you take the time to learn the new rules, you CAN win in the coming decade, and make it safely and securely to your goals. This week, Bruce Weide, host of Straight Talk Wealth Radio, thoroughly reviews the new risks exclusive to this decade, and explains the new rules to successfully navigate these risks for building wealth dependably and securely. It's not your fault. Someone changed the rules on you! But it's NOT TOO LATE, if you learn the new rules NOW. They're simple. But they're new and they're different. And no one taught you this in school.
