In this week's episode, the boys discuss Derek Jeter's upcoming documentary 'The Captain', and preview what we're in for when it premieres July 18 after the All-Stars Home Run Derby. Three recent and separate injuries have effected teams positively and negatively. The boys dive in. What the heck is going on with Eduardo Rodriguez and his no good, horrible, very bad season? The boys try to make sense of it, and debate whether it could be a larger problem within the Detroit organization that leads to these sort of bad signings, trades, and drafts. Afterwards, the boys play their version of Marry, F*ck, Kill with Start, Bench, Cut. They break it down in three tiers of players: Past, Present & Future. And then they round out the show with Fantasy Factory and Collection Corner.

Colin Henderson (@ColDontLie) & Chris Crawford (@Crawford_MiLB) discuss all the latest offseason moves as Eduardo Rodriguez & Noah Syndergaard both find new homes while Jose Berrios stays put. Finally they finish their game from last week, playing 'Over/Under' with each top free agent pitcher.
We always look forward to Opening Day, but it just feels different this time. We are moving in the right direction -- it’s HOPEning Day. But don’t worry, we also have rants. And mezcal.
Patti and the Pottymouth channel patron saint Sean Doolittle -- sports are the reward for a functioning society. If a couple of old white guys in Georgia can take voter suppression to new heights, MLB can damn well yank this July’s All Star Game out of Atlanta, FIFA can pull them from World Cup host contention, and the NCAA can kick upcoming Final Fours way the hell down the road. No thank you, Georgia. You don’t deserve sports. There’s precedent for this, ask your North Carolina and Arizona friends.
We poke some fun at, and holes in, the League’s new Hall Monitor system for cracking down on pitchers’ use of foreign substances to increase control and spin rate. And we do love to say “tainted balls.” Pottymouth worries about Eduardo Rodriguez’s “dead arm” which pulled him back off the Red Sox opening day start. Eloy Jimenez’ awful ruptured pectoral tendon may be an opportunity for Andrew Vaugh. Likewise Luke Voit’s surgery gives Jay Bruce a roster spot.
Patti and the Pottymouth introduce their Fantasy Boyfriend Baseball League starting lineups, and make bold predictions about awards, pennants, and the World Series that you are welcome to throw back in their faces in October. We cross-train with the NWHL -- congrats Boston Pride! And there’s a new Monkey in town, so international ball is not only about hot rookies this week.

In this episode of the TC & Jerry Podcast, Tom Caron and Jerry Remy hear from Boston Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez and manager Alex Cora as the duo discuss what to expect what the Sox begin the 2021 regular season. Caron and Remy also examine how the Red Sox offense will produce runs beyond just hitting home runs.
Pottymouth narrows the field to white guy bat flippers for her boyfriends this week. For the As, she picks big league foodie Mark Cahna, and for the Padres, the man on the wrong end of our favorite play ever witnessed in person, Trent Grisham. Patti goes for utility and puns with her picks. Chad Pinder wins her over for the As with his work with special needs kids, and “that Cronenworth guy”, Jake Cronenworth for the Padres.
COVID numbers look good around the league, some ballparks are planning on fans in the stands, and some former boyfriends make bad decisions. Eduardo Rodriguez, and his recovering heart, makes his first post-COVID start. MLB designates June 2 as Lou Gehrig Day. Sam Dyson’s season-long suspension headlines our police blotter this week, but Mickey Calloway is now a regular there.
The University of Rochester welcomes catcher Beth Greenwood as the second woman to play NCAA Division 3 baseball. Puerto Rico’s womens baseball league doubles in size -- follow Edwin Hernández to keep tabs on that. Opening Day approaches for our favorite breakfast baseball, the CPBL. Maybe Daniel Kim can help us watch KBO games this year. Patti works “gerrymandering” into the conversation.

Hard to believe, but we got through the whole dang season. Patti and the Pottymouth give you their good, bad, and ugly of how it went, should it have gone? And what about all those new rules? It felt like a lot more guys were injured, but also a lot more got their call ups. Hunter Pence retires and we wish him well. This crazy Wildcard Week is just beginning so we try to lay it all out for you. We even make a few predictions with absolutely no conviction whatsoever.
MLB gives staff election day off in hopes they will volunteer to work the polls. Fenway, Nats Park, Camden Yards, Comerica, and Dodger Stadium will all be early voting sites. But you have to live in the city to go there, you can’t just go to Fenway to vote if you, hypothetically, live outside of DC, Pottymouth.
For those downplaying the lasting effects of COVID, Eduardo Rodriquez was just cleared to start walking. Walking. Yoan Moncada hit his first homer in a month and says his energy is just starting to feel normal again post COVID-19. Bradford William Davis investigated that promise made by MLB to offer testing to front line workers in MLB cities as part of its protocols and plans. The results are not good.
Did you have “power outage” on your list of reasons to delay a ballgame in 2020? Did you have Andrew Stevenson hitting two homers off of Jacob DeGrom? Do you believe that Thom Brennaman has made “Heartfelt efforts at reconciliation with LGBTQ community” ? Boyfriends Bobby Dalbec, Juan Soto, Freddie Freeman, Jose Ramirez, and DJ LeMahieu are finishing the season strong, and may we please have Statcast on the Willson Contreras batflip?
