Educator, activist and all-around thought leader Jason B. Allen joins the show to discuss the importance of hearing and seeing Black men in education. 

Jason shares his journey to becoming an educator and what led him to found Educational Entities, which helps share, develop, and create stories that educate. He also discusses his podcast 'Speak Black Man'.

The full conversation touches on the erasure of the voices and presence of Black men in the education space, strategies for recruiting more Black teachers, and how public education interacts with the Black community. We need to hire a person of color! We need a woman quickly! Hurry, get me a Black man! Can we think of a Muslim we have around here that will make us appear as a diverse organization to the public? Did you hear about what rumor is spreading about the organization throughout media outlets? We have no BIPOC on the leadership team - we need to get one – hire a Black woman as that will serve as two demographics for the price of one! We see you as a "perfect fit" for our organization and leadership team.

Local elections have historically been known to have low voter turnout!  We cannot afford to sit these elections out, especially with our school board meetings becoming hijacked by the manufactured "anger" around issues that have become politicized.  As a result, the cost of our student's education and becoming better citizens is becoming compromised.  Our school board is part of those local elections and tremendously impacts our students and communities. They decide the directions of our districts, our districts' culture, and what our districts prioritize for the benefit of ALL students.  Sitting out elections can involuntarily elect trustees who don't belong in these seats, ultimately negatively impacting our kids.  Tune in to this show's episode to learn why voting in these life-changing elections is essential.
