    Pain Hustlers

    Pain Hustlers

Welcome back to Bad Dads Film Review, where today we're delving into the murky waters of moral ambiguity with the riveting (?!) drama, Pain Hustlers.

Pain Hustlers takes us into the heart of the opioid crisis, a topic as timely as it is troubling. This isn't just a story about drug sales; it's a tale of desperation, ambition, and the American Dream gone awry.

Liza Drake, played by Emily Blunt, is a single mother grappling with financial instability. Her world turns upside down when she lands a high-paying job selling OxyContin for a pharmaceutical startup. But as the company's unethical practices escalate, Liza is caught in a moral dilemma, torn between the life she's built and the lives destroyed by addiction.

While Blunt's performance and the film's relevance are lauded, some critics find the plot predictable. Despite this, Pain Hustlers has ignited conversations about the opioid crisis and corporate responsibility.

As dads, Pain Hustlers hits hard. It's a stark reminder of the responsibilities we hold, not just to our families, but to society at large. We'll dive into how the film portrays the struggle between financial security and ethical integrity, a balance many of us grapple with.

So, dads, join us as we explore Pain Hustlers, a film that's as engaging as it is important. It's a journey through the highs and lows of chasing success, and a reflection on the prices we're willing to pay. Tune in for a lively discussion, some dad insights, and maybe even a few laughs along the way. 🎬💊👨‍👧‍👦🍿

We love to hear from our listeners! By which I mean we tolerate it. If it hasn't been completely destroyed yet you can usually find us on twitter @dads_film, on Facebook Bad Dads Film Review, on email at baddadsjsy@gmail.com or on our website baddadsfilm.com.

    Until next time, we remain...

    Episode 74: Barbenheimer

Welcome to Screen Tea Podcast! This week, join your hosts for a doubleheader as they record their impressions following their double-feature of Barbie and Oppenheimer,  also affectionately known as Barbenheimer! Don your best pink polyester or your svelt mood-suit and grab your empty cup or your bourbon and join in as Lisha goes full movie snob (yeah, yeah, she hates fun), Jules is the one who shows emotion (over sound design!), and both of your hosts conclude that hey, these are both good movies and everyone who likes movies won, actually. There's some tense discourse here (over a doll (WHY) and over a three-hour-long biopic...okay, understandable), but hey...at least they both loved Allan 💗

    Barbenheimer

    Barbenheimer

The moviegoing sensation that's taken over the nation has arrived...Barbenheimer. On July 21st, two of the most anticipated films of the year were released on the same day: Greta Gerwig's Barbie (2023) and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer (2023). Two of the most innovative directors of our time lead two incredible teams of cast and crew (both backed by husband-wife production companies) to deliver unforgettable viewing experiences. While these aren't Old Hollywood films, the two figures at the center of both stories emerged in time periods we frequently discuss, and it's amazing to see the public reexamine them now!  Emma and Jack discuss their their Barbenheimer impressions-- the order they watched them in, the logistics of watching them, first impressions, and more. Let us know your thoughts and feelings to THE summer theater event!
