HOMEGROWN: 10 Years of Holy Holy | A Tale of Chance Encounters, Nostalgic Gigs, and Dedicated Fans

HOMEGROWN: 10 Years of Holy Holy | A Tale of Chance Encounters, Nostalgic Gigs, and Dedicated Fans

Join Timothy Carroll and Oscar Dawson of Holy Holy as they sit down with Matty O on Triple M Homegrown to commemorate a decade of incredible music and memories. From their chance encounter as English teachers in Thailand to their rise to worldwide success, this episode takes you on an unforgettable journey through the band's remarkable history.

The conversation begins with the boys reminiscing about their time in Thailand, where they initially crossed paths but struggled to master the local language. Fast forward to the present day, and their journey has led them to heights they could have never imagined during those early days.

Back in Australia, Tim shares a heartwarming memory of witnessing Oscar's previous band, 'Dukes of Windsor,' achieve their own success. Little did they know that their paths would converge again in Sweden, where Oscar found himself crashing on Tim's couch while working on a 'Dukes of Windsor' record in Berlin, Germany.

With minimal production experience and basic equipment, Tim approached Oscar with some musical ideas. Being the production wiz he is, Oscar jumped in to help bring those ideas to life. The duo's chemistry was undeniable, and though they never intended to form a band, the magic they created together was undeniable.

Their first song 'Impossible Like You,' released in 2013, exceeded all expectations, receiving national radio airplay and opening doors to countless gigs. This unforeseen success set them on a course that would change their lives forever.

Tim and Oscar also share touching moments they've experienced with fans, from encountering devoted admirers with tattoos of their lyrics to fans claiming they gave birth to a non-stop playlist of Holy Holy music.

Matty takes the duo on a nostalgic trip down Memory Lane, reliving some of their biggest shows to date. The recounting of their first major gig at the Palais Theatre brings laughter as they recall committing a rookie mistake of forgetting their equipment – a tale that has become part of their band's folklore.

Going behind the scenes at Splendour in the Grass, Tim and Oscar recall their exhilarating experience performing at the festival, from braving the mud to camping on site and even playfully sharing a stolen bottle of Jamison from Oh Mercy.

In a surprising twist, they share an amusing story of being mistaken for a David Bowie cover band due to their band name "Holy Holy."

The episode concludes with delightful anecdotes of their encounters with music sensations Billie Eilish and Coolio at Groovin The Moo, solidifying their position in the music world as artists who have had the honor of sharing moments with music icons.
