EP 27: He is Still Human!

In this episode of Happy is the New the Pretty, Christy, and Jillian talk with Ashley Phillips about how the unexpected diagnosis of Epilepsy changed how life is viewed.

     Hunter

Hunter is your typical teenage boy who has already overcome being born a premie, along with his micro-premie twin brother, both thriving in high school, minus a few learning struggles; he has lived a carefree life, enjoying ATVs, nature, and friends. One night, after showing, something changed; he doesn’t know what happened other than waking up after passing out while showering. After letting his parents know, they started trying to figure out what happened.

     The Accident

A typical day at the family's property is riding ATVs with his brothers. Hunter had another blackout while riding on his ATV; after flipping it numerous times, his brothers ran and got help. Still recovering, not only has Hunter started taking medication for epilepsy, but he has learned to walk again. His circle of friends and family has helped provide support during his recovery. Hunter’s strength and determination are not only inspiring, it’s a blessing to everyone who meets him.

EP 27: Danny McGuire Jr - Built to Serve #BT1R

EP 27: Danny McGuire Jr - Built to Serve #BT1R

In this episode of Beyond the 1st Response, Christy and Robyn talk to retired Chicago police Sgt Danny McGuire Jr. Now a professor at Calumet College and intern therapist at Augustine Wellness Center, he hosts his own podcast, Everyday Warriors.

    Support

Danny wants to talk to you when you are in trouble, regardless of what it is. Understanding that this is just a moment in time, support is everything; working through the emotions with someone who is there to listen is important. McGuire can accomplish this at Augustine Wellness Center

    Too Many Hats

Police Officers are expected to multitask many jobs

    • Medic
    • Social worker
    • Psychiatrist
    • Marriage counselor
    • Traffic Specialist

    Abraham Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

Renowned American psychologist Abraham Maslow theorized only 1% of people will reach self actualization. Interestingly enough, basic needs are at the bottom, and safety needs are next. Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs lays out why police officers struggle with belonging and loving needs because they find it hard to find the safety needs being met due to the stressors of the job and lack of support from the community. Trust is a big issue for first responders because of what they see on a daily basis. Family doesn’t always understand because of lack of communication. This loss of transparency with the significant others can change by having a simple conversation.

S.A.L.L.I.D- Six Things that Frustrate your most Productive Employee

    • Self-serving agenda
    • Acceptance of mediocrity
    • Lack of transparency
    • Lack of communication
    • Indecisive
    • Disorganization

    Public Safety Officer Act 2022

What does this mean for families that have lost first responders to suicide? Anyone that has not a family member to suicide from January 1, 2019, and later will be able to get restoration with certain steps that will need to be taken.

Ep 27: How to Get What You Want

Ep 27: How to Get What You Want

You ever found yourself really looking forward to the future because that's where things are going to get better? Or perhaps you find yourself worried about the future?

The reality is if you want to have a better future, you have to master your present. You need to become more powerful now, gain more clarity now, develop more confidence now, in order to solve whatever puzzle you're facing right now... not waiting for some far-off time when things are suddenly going to be different.

Every person that I’ve observed who has experienced some powerful transformation - whether in relationships, physical vitality, wealth frequency, or otherwise - has done so by first making this foundational shift in their mindset and behavior.

And so in this special edition of the podcast, we’re going to dive into specific tools and philosophies that will help you master your present.

This presentation was initially recorded at an entrepreneur event in Bucharest, Hungry. These were people who were doers, who were hungry and willing to do what it takes to advance their business and advance their lives.

And yet, many of them were shocked at just how simply this message is, at just how easy it can be to begin bringing to you more of what you desire by focusing on mastering your present reality.

You’ll also here the story of how the worst beating of my life, in a no-holds-barred fight club, actually became the foundation for the most powerful transformation that I’ve experienced.
