    New Year... New You?

    New Year... New You?

Or is it just a good opportunity to set yourself some goals?

Christmas has been and gone, the bells have rung in 2024 and the EquiTeam trio are back to chat about goal setting. Whether you look at New Year as an opportunity to start over or just another day, it is the one time of year when lots of us think about setting ourselves some new goals.

In this episode we discuss how to get started with goal setting, how many goals to set and where to focus your energy, and some of the different ways to keep yourself accountable. We share some of our own goals for 2024, and some of our more stupid goals that at the time seemed totally ridiculous, as well as some of our past failures and successes and what we learnt in the process.

    A Neurodiverse Equestrian

When we saw Christa Dillon’s brilliant article on being a neurodivergent equestrian, published by the Irish Field, we knew we wanted to invite her to the Listen with EquiTeam podcast.

The statistics say that 15-20% of the world’s population is neurodiverse (although likely to be higher) – but what does it mean to be neurodiverse, how do you know if you are neurodivese and what support is available?

Christa, an equestrian coach, rider and sports horse producer shares her own personal experiences and explains what can be done to level the playing field.

    Island Riding with Louise Buckner

    Island Riding with Louise Buckner

EquiTeam’s Liz Daniels chats to Louise Buckner, founder of Island Riding Centre on the Isle of Wight, about giving back to the community, diversification, sustainability and why she believes in teaching kids and adults more than just to ride horses.

Having purchased a derelict farm with her husband just six years ago, it was a toss up between converting it to either a riding centre or a golf course… luckily for the people of the island the horses won!

Louise and her team have built an incredible portfolio of services, making the most and creating opportunities for the whole island and beyond to enjoy.

A fascinating listen from an inspirational equestrian figure who really is making a huge difference to the lives of many by creating a hub of the community with horses at the core.

How to get riding fit with Equestrian Fitness Scotland

How to get riding fit with Equestrian Fitness Scotland

Mum of two, full time police officer, rider & grass roots eventer, personal trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach for the performance and development squads for Horse Scotland. Lauren Semple from Equestrian Fitness Scotland is one busy lady and yet she still finds time to support and encourage other equestrians to get fitter and stronger.

In this episode Liz Daniels chats to Lauren about what inspired her to help other riders improve their fitness and the quick results her clients get when they commit to just 10 -15 minutes a day of doing the right exercises.

Did you know that if you are an unbalanced and unfit rider your horse has to work up to 80% harder? Lauren is very clear that this isn’t about how much you weigh but about how fit, balanced and strong you are in the saddle, so it's time to ditch those scales. Instead Lauren recommends taking EquiTeam’s fitness test to work out if you are fit enough for your horse.

If you are time poor but want quick results there is so much you can do to help your horse and you don’t even need to join a gym. 10 -15 minutes of our EquiTeam rider fitness workouts per day is all you need to start seeing results
