RR Podcast E14 P1 Stewart Clelland - Freemasons, The Green Book of the Élus Coëns & Gnostic Reintegration

In Part 1, Stewart starts by talking about the diverse views of Freemasonry, and how influential Freemasonry has been to many other esoteric and occult societies. I also ask Stewart to give his opinions about why Freemasonry is a common target for conspiracy theorists, especially those found within UFO conspiracies.

    PROGRAM NOTES

Stewart's new book, The Green Book of the  Élus Coëns , offers an insight into a masonic society called  The Order of Knight-Mason Elect-Cohens of the Universe, one of the most elite and esoteric groups within masonic societies. The book is an English translation of the grimoire that this group used. Please visit the Lewis Masonic website for more details:

    008: Philip K. Dick's "VALIS"

    008: Philip K. Dick's "VALIS"

The reason I finally decided to give Dick’s VALIS a try is due to my research into esotericism and the occult. Dick’s major contribution to the field of esotericism is his posthumously published work called The Exegesis. However, he addresses many of his ideas in his fiction.

    VALIS
is one I could see myself reading again and again. There is so much to get from it, and it's certainly not a conventional science fiction story.

RR Podcast Ep. 10, Pt. 2 with Aaron J. French: The Mandela Effect - Reality, Memory, Conspiracy & Occulture

In Part 2, we jump back in with a more controversial topic, that of John Lamb Lash, and how his interpretation of the concept of Gnosticism has become intertwined with the Mandela Effect. We explore whether or not conspiracy theories are dangerous to society, but also note their more playful quality as we re-visit the old pranksters, the Discordians. We then move on to the topic of memory, how memory affects history, how remembering something actually creates new experiences and can affect our future memories, and what the reward could possibly be for people who believe in the Mandela Effect. Aaron also shares some interesting content regarding a possible PRE-Mandela Effect, and we close with Aaron sharing some other information about his work as a writer and editor of fantasy fiction.

RR Podcast Ep. 10, Pt. 1 with Aaron J. French: The Mandela Effect - Reality, Memory, Conspiracy & Occulture

In Part 1, Aaron and I bring everyone up to speed on what the Mandela Effect (ME) is, where it comes from, and why it is an important area of research for the study of esotericism. We discuss examples of ME, found with book titles (Berenstein/Berenstain Bears), pop culture references (what did Darth Vader actually say to Luke Skywalker?), and how all of this affects our notions of reality and of our memory. We also talk about how Christian elements have come to interact with more esoteric concepts found within the cultic milieu.

    Episode Three-The Techno Spiritual Logos
We're taking a trip through time all the way back to ancient Greece. We'll delve into the minds of Heraclitus, Plato, Aristotle and make our way to the far east to the philosophy of the Tao De Ching. Ending up in the halls of theology from Philo of Alexandria to St. John the Divine as we explore the ancient philosophical concept of the Logos. The voice that informs nature, the reason for the flow of logic from mind to cosmos, the animating principle of the universe. We'll explore the efficacy of this idea ,seeing what the thinkers of the past had to say about it and trying to grasp what it could mean for our present and trans-dimensional future. Neoplatonism with Angela Voss

    Neoplatonism with Angela Voss

Angela Voss, PhD, SFHEA is Programme Director for the MA in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred at Canterbury Christ Church University, UK.

    In this podcast we discuss:

    • Her interest in the Renaissance philosopher Marsilio Ficino
    • The relationship between art, religion and science
    • Who were the neoplatonists?
    • Neoplatonic ritual
    • The neoplatonic goal
    • The prominence of its practice
    • The influence of neoplatonic ideas on contemporary esoteric, spiritual and scientific thought

She has studied and taught Western esotericism for over twenty years, and is also a musician and an astrologer. Her interest began with the Renaissance philosopher Marsilio Ficino, who was deeply indebted to both Plato and Hermes in his desire to renew the spirit of the Christian religion (see Marsilio Ficino, 2006), and she completed a doctorate on his astrological music therapy in 1992.  She is now in the Education Faculty at Canterbury Christ Church, and is working within a transformative learning context, finding ways to bridge esoteric wisdom and reflexive scholarship. She has written extensively on Ficino, the symbolic imagination, music, astrology and divination, and she regards her vocation as a ‘walker between the worlds’, of spiritual experience and academic discourse.  Some of her publications can be found at https://canterbury.academia.edu/AngelaVoss  Her latest publication is Re-enchanting the Academy, co-edited with Simon Wilson.

Episode 63: Faculty X: On Colin Wilson's 'The Occult'

Episode 63: Faculty X: On Colin Wilson's 'The Occult'
At its simplest, what Colin Wilson calls Faculty X is "simply that latent power in human beings possess to reach beyond the present." Yet its existence is evinced in all those phenomena that modernity files under "supernatural" or "occult." As difficult to explain as it is impossible to omit from any honest survey of human existence, the occult haunts the modern, not just as a vestige of the past but also, perhaps, as a promise from a time to come. For Wilson, magic isn't the living fossil the arch-rationalists would like it to be, but a "science of the future." Faculty X is an evolutionary power, innately positive, inseparable from the will to live and the unshakeable conviction that, somehow, this world has some real, ineffable meaning. In this episode, JF and Phil discuss Wilson's concept of Faculty X as elaborated in his monumental 1971 work, The Occult. Episode 60: Space is the Place: On Sun Ra, Gnosticism, and the Tarot

Episode 60: Space is the Place: On Sun Ra, Gnosticism, and the Tarot
Somebody once said, "No prophet is welcome in his own country." Whether this was true in the case of jazz musician and composer Sun Ra depends on whom you ask. With most, the dictum probably bears out. But there are those who can make out certain patterns in Ra's life and work, patterns that place him among the true mystics and prophets. Of course, these people already believe in mysticism and prophecy, but Sun Ra's total devotion to his myth does not leave much wiggle room on this front. He is asking us to choose: believe or disbelieve. And if you go with disbelief, you'll need to explain the sustained coherence and lucidity of his message, and the transformative power of his music. In this episode, Phil and JF take a look at Sun Ra's unforgettable film Space is the Place, interpreting it as a document in the history of esotericism, using gnostic thought and the tarotology as instruments to bring some of his secrets to light.
