One Night in Troas - Audio

One Night in Troas - Audio
This Eutychus guy. You want to know what his name means? Fortunate. Lucky. Of course it does. Now some commentators have gotten really stuffy, and high and mighty with this picture. “Here’s why you shouldn’t fall asleep in sermons.” You know, “Eutychus gives the lamest picture, the poorest example, the lowest illustration – just, sleeping through sermons. Don’t do it.” It’s past midnight! Give him a break! I don’t think Luke nor the Holy Spirit had in mind to embarrass folks who sleep in sermons here. I just don’t think that was rating high on their priority list here. I could be wrong.

What Does The Bible Say About Resurrection?

What Does The Bible Say About Resurrection?

In this episode, Arnie and Fred talk about resurrection. It is a subject many times at funerals when we talk about seeing our loved ones again. Solomon tells us that our spirit returns to God when our bodies die. We note numerous passages that refer to the resurrection of our bodies.  Paul in particular has a whole chapter in First Corinthians discussing that very subject.  We talk about the definition of the word and the fact that it is referred to no less than 42 times in the New Testament. We look at the three times in the Old Testament that individuals rose from the dead. There are a number of instances in the New Testament that we talk about.  Of course, the example of Jesus' resurrection is also noted and especially the example of Thomas being a reliable witness of that event.  We complete this episode by noting the comfort an obedient servant of the Lord can experience knowing he will live again and be with the Lord in heaven. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion. Have your Bible handy to follow along and insure what we are saying is what the Bible says.

    "He's Alive!" (Acts 20:1-12)

    "He's Alive!" (Acts 20:1-12)
There are a surprising number of resurrections in the Bible. As we examine the last of these resurrection stories, the account of Paul healing a young man who plummeted from a window, we will see how God has the power and compassion to bring life back to small, unimportant, broken people. But whatever you do, don't fall asleep during this sermon. It may be fatal, as Eutychus reminds us.
