Blind at Birth - The Gospels

Join Julia Jeffress Sadler as she takes us on an incredible adventure in Episode 166. Jesus healed a man who had been blind since birth, showing that no one's sin caused his blindness but that it happened so God's work could be shown. When the man washed off the mud Jesus had put on his eyes, he could see for the first time, causing surprise among his neighbors and skepticism from religious leaders. Despite being questioned and thrown out of the temple for defending Jesus, the man met Jesus again and believed in Him, worshiping Him as the Son of Man.

Mark 2 | Daring Faith, Healing Forgiveness, and the True Sabbath Gift

Mark 2 | Daring Faith, Healing Forgiveness, and the True Sabbath Gift

Imagine being so compelled by faith that you tear through a roof to ensure a friend encounters the healing touch of Jesus. That's the audacious belief we unpack in today's discussion, where we dissect the story of the paralytic from Mark 2. Our conversation paints a vivid picture of transformation, revealing the magnitude of Jesus' power to forgive and heal, as we contemplate on the impact of introducing others to Christ. By examining Jesus' interaction with societal outcasts like Levi, we challenge listeners to see beyond the surface, understanding His ministry as an invitation to change, not an acceptance of sin.

As dawn breaks on the Sabbath, many find themselves entangled in misconceptions about this holy day. We clear the fog, embracing Jesus' teaching that the Sabbath is a gift for our rejuvenation, not a cumbersome rulebook. Reflecting on the purpose of this day of rest can lead to renewed spiritual vigor and a deeper understanding of its role in our lives. Our conversation extends a hand to those grappling with the delicate balance between faith and compassion, inviting you to reinvent your approach to this divinely ordained pause in our weekly rhythm.

In Mark 2, the narrative unfolds with Jesus' return to Capernaum, where He astounds the crowds by forgiving the sins of a paralyzed man lowered through the roof by his friends. This act of forgiveness sparks controversy among the religious leaders, who question Jesus' authority to forgive sins. Jesus responds by demonstrating His authority to forgive by healing the paralyzed man, revealing His divine power to both heal and forgive.

The chapter progresses with Jesus calling Levi, also known as Matthew, a tax collector, to follow Him. This action stirs criticism from the religious elite, who question Jesus' association with sinners and tax collectors. In response, Jesus asserts His mission to call sinners to repentance, emphasizing His role as a physician who ministers to the spiritually sick.

Mark 2 concludes with Jesus addressing questions about fasting, highlighting the significance of His presence as a cause for celebration rather than mourning. He uses the analogy of new wine in fresh wineskins to illustrate the need for spiritual renewal and flexibility in embracing His teachings.

Mark 2 showcases Jesus' authority over sin and sickness, His willingness to reach out to the marginalized, and His invitation to repentance and renewal. This chapter challenges readers to reconsider their preconceptions about religious exclusivity and embrace the transformative power of Jesus' inclusive and compassionate ministry.

UnYoked - The Post Divorce Podcast: Navigating the Pain, Process, and Possibilities As Christians

Divorce and the new single life is hard but it is even more complex when you made a promise to God to "keep your marriage till death do you part." American Christian culture doesn't make navigating the decisions and ripple effects of divorce any easier. Christian marriage and divorce advice runs rampant yet often conflicts with the realities of pain, abuse, loneliness, and the real world.

God has a lot more to say than, “I hate divorce.” God gives a standard and then graciously restores and renews people even when His standard isn't met.

Those of us who are navigating the life changing event of unYoking from a spouse and/or uprooting a family have to journey through some dark, lonely, and confusing places. Our issues aren't frequently tackled from the pulpit and the advice we receive isn't always relevant to our current place.

The UnYoked podcast is just for you. A safe place to wonder, ponder, relate, and consider your steps of navigating a divorce, singleness, and the future. A place where we live in the tension between God's plan and the realities of living in a broken world with broken people and broken relationships. Buckle up... remove the mask.. and let's get real about discussing the ripple effects of divorce and equip ourselves to survive being unYoked as a Christian.

Matthew 9 | Do You Need Healing, Forgiveness, or Both?

Matthew 9 | Do You Need Healing, Forgiveness, or Both?

Have you ever considered the depth of transformation that comes from a true encounter with the divine? In our latest exploration of the Gospel of Matthew, we delve into chapter nine, where Jesus' actions stir hearts and minds. Our journey begins with the astonishing forgiveness and healing of a paralyzed man, compelling us to question the primacy of spiritual wellness. We then witness the calling of Matthew, the despised tax collector, and ponder the humility and profound change that follows. Jesus' association with societal outcasts and His teachings on fasting challenge us to reexamine our own beliefs about who He is and the nature of our own spiritual identity.

As we unravel the narratives of miracles, such as a young girl brought back to life and blind men granted sight, we emphasize the critical role of faith in these acts of healing. Our discussion takes an introspective turn as we consider why Jesus gave contrasting instructions regarding the disclosure of these miracles, inviting a deeper understanding of His mission. The episode reaches a poignant climax with Jesus' tender view of the people as shepherd-less sheep, urging us to engage in heartfelt prayer for more laborers in the abundant harvest. Join us for an episode that not only recounts the marvels of Jesus' compassion but also inspires a call to action, grounded in earnest prayer and readiness to be part of the transformative work that beckons.

The ninth chapter of Matthew's Gospel in the New Testament is a treasure trove of powerful verses, showcasing Jesus's ministry in Galilee. Prepare to be awestruck by miraculous healings, profound teachings, and impactful encounters that continue to resonate with readers today.

Step into the scene where Jesus heals a paralyzed man, not just physically but also spiritually, by forgiving his sins. This act sparks debate and discussion, prompting reflection on the interconnectedness of physical and spiritual well-being. The chapter further compels us through the calling of Matthew, a tax collector, who readily abandons his old life to follow Jesus. This powerful testament to faith and transformation leaves a lasting impression.

Matthew 9 isn't just about miracles; it's also a treasure chest of wisdom. We encounter Jesus's poignant parable about the need for new wineskins for new wine, highlighting the importance of adapting to changing circumstances. His call to send more laborers into the harvest field reminds us of our own responsibility to spread the message of compassion and love.

We will leave you pondering the profound impact of Jesus's teachings and actions. So, open your heart and mind, and prepare to be swept away by the timeless truths found within these verses.

From Brokenness to Breakthrough: Embracing God's Healing Touch for Trauma Recovery

From Brokenness to Breakthrough: Embracing God's Healing Touch for Trauma Recovery

Welcome to our transformative series, inspired by the wisdom found within the sacred scriptures. As we delve into the realm of mental health, we are reminded of the profound words penned in 2 Corinthians 12:8–10. In this passage, the apostle Paul shares his own struggles and the revelation he received from God: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." It is through our weakness that God's strength shines, offering solace and hope amidst our mental health battles.

In Psalm 34:18, we find reassurance in the comforting words, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." It is in our moments of despair and vulnerability that God's presence is most palpable, providing a source of solace and renewal. Together, we discover that even in our darkest hours, there is light to be found in the divine embrace.

Furthermore, 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 reminds us of the compassionate nature of God: "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." We are called to extend the comfort we have received from God to others who may be facing similar struggles, fostering a community of empathy and support.

Through this series, we seek to intertwine these sacred teachings with the importance of seeking professional counseling. We recognize that while God and Jesus play a pivotal role in our emotional and spiritual healing, they have also blessed us with the gift of professional counselors who are equipped to guide us through the complexities of mental health episodes. In merging faith and professional counseling, we create a harmonious approach to holistic well-being.

Join us as we embark on this transformative journey, grounded in the timeless wisdom of Scripture and complemented by the invaluable insights of mental health professionals. Together, we can discover the healing power of faith and professional counseling, drawing strength from God's grace and embracing the tools provided for our mental health journey.
