Episode #91 feat. Daniel Furnari of Polaris

Episode #91 feat. Daniel Furnari of Polaris
It's almost here! Polaris are set to debut their second album The Death Of Me NEXT WEEK and to get you all kinds of ready for the masterpiece, this week we've got drummer/songwriter Daniel Furnari co-hosting the podcast to chat all about it.

It's no secret the band have absolutely exploded over the past couple of years, scoring rave reviews from fans and critics alike, receiving an ARIA Nomination for their debut album The Mortal Coil and taking international audiences by storm every time they visit... But despite all of their success, the band still see themselves a long way away from where most of us place them and Dan discusses their rise to fame, their progression as musicians and how no matter what direction their music journey takes them, they'll always be trying new things to find their place in the heavy music world. One of the humblest blokes you'll ever come across so dive right into the world of Polaris before you get left behind.

Podcast host Browny also takes a look at Enter Shikari's newly announced album Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible and their first single from it 'The Dreamers Hotel' as well as the beginning of the end of Dream On Dreamer who announced they'll be calling it quits after 11 years of making music together.

There's plenty of New Music from Ocean Grove, Four Year Strong, Stand Atlantic, Static-X, The Used and Falcifer, throwbacks from Rolo Tomassi and Fit For A King + heaps more!

Alex discusses the band's stops and starts recently which may have slowed down the progression process of the band, but not the keen and eagerness to succeed and with this new career development, they're not slowing down for anyone soon. Get to know the band, their future and find out what record Alex still holds with our Wall of Sound: Up Against the Wall podcast when we first met her back at Big Sound 2017.

Episode #62 feat. Ian Kenny of Karnivool

Episode #62 feat. Ian Kenny of Karnivool

Stop Everything: Karnivool are back together again and they're not only working on new music but they're hitting the road to play UNIFY Gathering 2019 and we can hadly contain our excitement. Joining us on this very special 'Countdown to UNIFY' podcast is frontman Ian Kenny who not only opens up about what's taking so long with the band's new material, but also the feelings of neglect he deals with when thinking about the fans who are eagerly waiting to hear it. It's no secret the man is one of Australia's hardest working musicians fronting both The Vool and Birds of Tokyo, so its great to get an insight to how his mind works and how he juggles time between the two, as well as having a social life.

But the surprises don't end there, he discusses the idea of a Sound Awake Anniversary Tour in 2019 to celebrate the album's 10th Birthday, similar to what they did with their debut album Themata and from all accounts, there could very much be something in the works already...

Podcast host Browny also chats with the very first Wall of Sound UNIFY Intern winner Adam Rice about taking out the prize and a couple of the bands from the lineup which changed and influenced his appreciation for heavy music.

And talking about the lineup, there are plenty of tracks to get you pumped up for the annual festival including throwbacks from Every Time I Die, Taking Back Sunday, WAAX and Falcifer, newer tunes from The Plot In You, Turnstile, Underoath, Hellions, Pagan and more...

Episode #52 feat. Joel Birch of The Amity Affliction

Episode #52 feat. Joel Birch of The Amity Affliction

Oh hey, sorry for the influx of podcasts lately but there's been so much news happening we needed to be on top of it all including The Amity Affliction's brand new album Misery which is the center of attention on this week's podcast with frontman Joel Birch joining Browny on co-hosting duties. He opens up about the band's drastic new direction which sees them quite heavily bring the synth from the background of their songs and gives it a position front and centre for all to see and hear, but that doesn't mean the strong, hard-hitting lyrical content is missing, something Amity have become masters of over the years due to Joel being so open about his own battles with mental health and depression.

He also discusses how the idea of the Misery Saga short film series came about (the story behind Amity's singles they've released so far) and how hard it was to cut almost two hours of storyline back to 20 mins for the music videos. Plus he sheds light on when the band will be taking this new release on the road for fans and how they're planning on making this their biggest and best tour to date.

Plus there's huge news about Australia's newest Music Festival Good Things Fest which will see the likes of The Offspring, Stone Sour, Bullet For My Valentine, Babymetal and more descend upon our shores in December for an east coast tour and while we're on the subject of festivals, the latest addition of bands for UNIFY Gathering have been revealed so we'll give you all the info you need to get you keen on that one.

Plus there's BRAND NEW music from Bring Me The Horizon, Beartooth, Atreyu and Blood Youth, throwbacks from Falcifer, Every Time I Die, Hand of Mercy and Love Cats (Ahren Stringer's former side project) and heaps more.

Episode #44 feat. Karina Utomo of High Tension

Episode #44 feat. Karina Utomo of High Tension

If someone asks you if you've seen High Tension, chances are they're not talking about the brutal horror movie from 2003, but more so the brutal, heavy band from Melbourne featuring frontwoman Karina Utomo who we have been huuuge supporters of since first coming across the band back in 2015 at the annual Big Sound conference. Since then, the band has gone on to support for Cancer Bats, they've played at Splendour in the Grass and even opened the main stage at Australia's first ever Download Festival, so it's safe to say the future of heavy music in Australia is on good hands with this foursome.

Podcast host Browny spoke with the singer ahead of the release of the band's new album Purge (out Friday) to find out more about the inspiration behind the record, which was conceived after conversations with locals who were unfortunately involved or experienced the Anti-Communist Purges of Indonesia back in the 1960's. Karina explains the struggles she faced when researching the stories, which in turn, became songs on the record and what she hopes fans of the band will take from her story re-telling through the band's music.

There's also plenty of heavy music to get you through the week including new stuff from Alpha Wolf, Chelsea Grin, Dimmu Borgir, Bleeding Through, Gravemind, Antagonist A.D. and DevilDriver, throwbacks from Aversions Crown, Emmure, Falcifer, Arch Enemy, Earth Rot and heaps more...
