    S1E12 Stickie FIngers

    S1E12 Stickie FIngers

Stickie Fingers are from Griffith, which is in the Riverina region of New South Wales.  I had a chat to them at the Central Coast Ukulele and Folk Festival in August.  This is the first time I’ve done an episode with 5 people at once, and it was a little daunting at first!  We recorded this in a very small hotel room, and you can imagine how crowded it was with six people and a heap of ukuleles.  It was all good fun though, and I enjoyed our chat.  I hope you do too!

    They played:

“Donald Where’s Your Troosers” – Andy Stewart & Neil Grant (1960)

“Rollin’ In My Sweet Baby’s Arms” – Traditional

And here are a few links to things mentioned in the episode:

    The Bushwackers

    What's a tin whistle?

    The Deni Uke Muster

The Junee Rhythm & Rail Festival

    Barron River Ukuleles

    The Norfolk Island Ukulele Festival

    The Blue Mountains Ukulele Festival

    The Murrumbidgee Ukulele Group Strummers

    Yarran Wines

The music played in this episode is licenced under a Podcasts (Featured Music) agreement with APRA AMCOS.

Together Mike and Dizzy dissect an album that saw the Stones begin the 1970's as the band they wanted to be armed with songs that would become as iconic as the band themselves.

What kind of influence would new guitarist Mick Taylor have on the sound of the band?

Which songs on 'Sticky Fingers' were the first songs that Dizzy learnt to play on guitar?

The Mustache | Facial Feature of Kings & Wrestlers (TSB077)

As of 2017, it’s been 16 years since Alex Trebek shocked the world by appearing clean-shaven in the 18th season of “Jeopardy!” Aside from one season back two years ago, when he grew a thinner version back again, prompting fan pages and even a Twitter account just for his mustache.

But thanks to audience feedback, as well as his wife’s, by the next season, the ‘stache was gone. And I don’t know about you, but to me, that mustache has and will always represent him. And I’m not the only one to associate the two: Will Ferrell, who has portrayed Alex Trebek numerous times on Saturday Night Live’s “Celebrity Jeopardy!” skits is always seen with the signature ’stache.

I’m your host, Emily Prokop, and this is The Story Behind the Mustache.

Episode #9: 5 Reasons Why Strong Fingers Matter

Episode #9: 5 Reasons Why Strong Fingers Matter

While climbing is, first and foremost, a mental and technical skill sport, long-term improvement—and pursuing your genetic potential—demands getting stronger in a number of climbing specific ways. Numerous research studies have confirmed that elite climbers, compared with non-elites, have higher grip-strength-to-mass ratio, greater forearm endurance, and a higher rate of force development in the finger flexors. Therefore, assuming that you have solid technical and mental skills, training for stronger fingers is paramount to taking your climbing to the next level. In this episode you'll learn 5 reason why strong fingers matter--this will set the stage for the next podcast which will cover effective fingerboard training techniques.

    Mike Conway || JS042

After a brief holiday break, my dear friend Mike Conway returns to the show to help me usher in a new year. In 2016, I really embraced the 7" so I figured we'd start 2017 with a bunch of classic punk 45s cause thats my sheee-it. As is tradition, Mike makes some incredibly outlandish statements and I react accordingly. On this episode we discuss George Michael's music videos, as well as the merits of record collecting and also waxing your scrotum. SUBSCRIBE and tell your lovely friends.

Florence Henderson passed away but we only know a small amount about her. We reminisce over the Brady Bunch movies and why they were strange. Fidel Castro also passed away and America is split down the middle again. Do we praise him or wish him to hell? You be the judge.

We also talk President-elect Donald Trump aka Twitter Fingers and the atmosphere he's creating in America with the media and on the web.

Red Friday dropped and YG had a lot to say about his label woes. He sent off a flurry of tweets against Def Jam and we talk about why labels always ruin shit for everyone.

We also talk Kanye West's mental health and why we want him to make a comeback. What could be wrong with Yeezy as of late and why the beef with his closest people.

We talk the Cowboys again on their 10 game win streak and why the talk about their schedule is bullshit. And also we cover the on field feud between Dez Bryant and Josh Norman. The NFL's had problems with ratings and John Madden appeared on the Bay Area News Podcast to share his thoughts on it and Thursday Night Football games.
