The Unsearchable Mysteries - Fish and Birds

The Unsearchable Mysteries - Fish and Birds

Immediately, at the voice of the Eternal One, it was so. The Eternal Father, the Eternal Voice and the Eternal Spirit, together as one, exactly three time spans after they created the sky above and the seas below filled them with life. Everything was provided for the birds of the air and the fish of the seas to live, thrive and multiply after their own kind. Even before they were created everything was there for them. Once again this was a personal expression of His love for us. As you listen be blessed, empowered and transformed in Jesus' name!

    Fishers of Men - John 21 - 106

    Fishers of Men - John 21 - 106

Christ time of making himself known to his people is when they are most at a loss. When they think they have lost themselves, he will let them know that they have not lost him. Christ appeared to them not walking on the water, because being risen from the dead he was not to be with the way he was before, but standing on the shore because now they were to make their way towards him.

This week we study the second miracle of Jesus where he caused his disciples to have a huge haul of fish and then they have breakfast with Jesus. Why were there 153 fish? Why did the nets not break in John 21 when they did in Luke 5? Is there a conspiracy theory?

We tackle these questions this week and more on this week's episode, Fishers of Men.

    Fishers of Men - Luke 5 - 105

    Fishers of Men - Luke 5 - 105

In the New Testament there is a miracle that is repeated twice, once in Luke 5 and once in John 21. It is the miracle where the disciples have been fishing all night and caught nothing. Jesus comes by and tells them to cast their net to the other side of the boat and they pull in a tremendous amount of fish. Some scholars and Bible Commentaries say this is the same miracle. But is it?

In Luke 5 the nets break, but in John 21 they don't. Is Luke or John lying about the story in essence making it a "fish story"? What is the meaning of the net breaking or not breaking? Is there a significance to it?

This week on Connecting the Gap we dive into Luke 5 and dissect the miracle as it happened, and we answer these questions. Next week we will work our way through John 21. In both cases we solidify the fact that most everything Jesus ever did while here on the Earth was a teaching and learning experience for those around Him.

    Follow Me - Part 4

    Follow Me - Part 4

Our focus determines our effectiveness. Just as a sheep will only follow one shepherd, so we as believers in Christ can only follow one Lord. It is easy to think we are following Jesus when, in reality, many other things compete with how we follow Him. These can include relationships, possessions, or even ministry. Following Jesus with all our hearts means that He is our central focus. In this, our supreme love for Him governs all other relationships and priorities.

As we follow Christ, we find that the key to reaching others for Him is being filled with Him! When we give God the right to guide, lead, and direct our lives, Christ’s life within us will bless and minister to those around us. The more Christ increases in our lives, the more we can invest in the lives of others for eternity. This is how we can walk as "fishers of men."

    Follow Me - Part 3

Are we willing to follow Jesus wherever He leads? Or do we say that we trust Him while we reserve the right to make our own decisions? Following Jesus means trusting Christ to determine the direction of our lives -- even when it doesn’t make sense. Join Nate and Gabe as they talk about following the Shepherd Who is trustworthy.

    Follow Me - Part 2

    Follow Me - Part 2

Following Jesus is about getting to know and listening to His voice. Listening takes time — and it competes with the many noises and distractions of a busy life. But if we take the time to still our hearts and listen to God’s voice, we will learn to trust Him and follow where He leads. Join Nate and Gabe as they share examples of what it means to follow Christ.

    Follow Me - Part 1

    Follow Me - Part 1

When Jesus approached two fishermen with a life-changing call, they embraced the call wholeheartedly. To these men, following Jesus meant a complete change of identity and purpose. Jesus gives the same invitation to those who desire to follow Him today.

When we give God the right to guide, lead, and direct our lives, Christ’s life within us will bless and minister to those around us. To Simply Follow

    To Simply Follow

"Follow me and I will make you fishers of men."

    Simple yet profound.

The life of a disciple is to follow. To go where Jesus is going. To do what Jesus is doing. To hurt over what Jesus is hurting over. To rejoice in what Jesus is rejoicing in.

We must learn to follow. And as we grow to know and love Jesus and follow Him in all things, He equips us to invite more to follow Him as well. He equips us to be a master fisherman for the Kingdom.

I Would Rather Be Fishing - Admonition 69

I Would Rather Be Fishing - Admonition 69

    Mark 1:17
I Would Rather Be Fishing -- but there is something more important than fishing in a literal sense and that is fishing for Men.
And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
