    I'm Inspired Now - Episode 2. I'm now a published author and I think I'm great

Welcome back to I'm Inspired Now, this is episode 2.

My name is Ben, and I’ll be talking about a short story I wrote, some board games I’ve just bought, a guy called Shawn, some 737’s and a massacre in Christchurch!

Shawn’s my mate who’ll be coming on the podcast to talk about Dark Tourism and his Kickstarter project. Look it up on www.kickstarter.com/

When you're in the Kickstarter page just look up The Weird Tales from Korean Lore. It's a comic book that celebrates the strange and eerie tales from Korean folklore, based on the popular Dark Side of Seoul Ghost Walk.

    Enjoy the podcast!

Shante Gapour Miss Waterhouse 2015 Guest On Ever Blazing Friday
Following her crowning as the 1st Miss Waterhouse, Miss Gapour in one of her first interview with Empress Skortcher spoke passionately about the cries from youths in Jamaica that there are "not enough jobs" as she offers viable solutions. She stated, "We as the young and coming, they should have persons there to properly monitor us in the career choices we are choosing. We should forget about becoming lawyers, and teachers and doctors, not that it's a bad job to have, but because there are other areas that are in demand. She added "that's how you're going to see the money coming in." In voicing her opinion she referenced a newspaper article a few years ago in which it was suggested that, "Jamaica don't need any more lawyers." Miss Gapour reiterated, "You need to be trained properly for the jobs that are in demand now in Jamaica." She later disclosed that her initial ambition was to become a lawyer but was swayed after reading that article and analyzed the value of training to entering into a in-demand field. On completion of university, Shante Gapour's career aspiration is to follow in the footsteps of her role model, the Honorable Lisa Hanna, who in 2012 was appointed as Jamaica's Minister of Youth and Culture and who continues to serve in that role. This self produced album features 10 awesome tracks all available on iTunes. Physical copies are available through Amazon, and Zojak World Wide. More about Paul Elliot BORN JUNE 1971, in Waterhouse, Kingston, Jamaica, Elliot was raised in a ghetto area rich in a musical tradition associated with artists such as Don Carlos, Junior Reid and Half Pint. The area attracted producers such as King Tubby, King Jammy, and Maurice Johnson. It was with the Waterhouse producers that Elliot embarked on his recording career. In 1981, the 10-year-old singer released his debut ‘Mini Van Man’ with Jah Life. Elliot performed under the guise of Culture Paul but his initial foray into the Jamaican music industry was met with indifference. In spite of his unfortunate inauguration King Jammy was suitably impressed and enrolled the young singer as an errand boy. Elliot played an important role in the studio’s promotional activities, although his own releases remained few and far between. However, one of the early Jammy productions, ‘Brutalise A Sound Bwoy’, proved an exception to the rule when it was a hit in the dancehall. Frustrated by the gradual progress toward stardom, Elliot decided to pursue his goal with Black Scorpio who he had met previously while working at Jammy’s studio. Determined to breakthrough into the mainstream Elliot financed and arranged his recording sessions assisted by Scorpio. He recorded ‘Fat Belly Rat’ in response to the needless violence that resulted in kindred fatalities. In the mid-90s the singer enjoyed a series of hits such as ‘Hype Roll’, ‘Cut And Clear’, ‘Seek Jah Blessing’ and ‘Save Me Oh Jah’. In 1998, the Jamaican football team qualified to play in the World Cup competition. The unprecedented success of the team resulted in a series of celebratory recordings from within the reggae community, and Elliot demonstrated his approval when he released ‘Win Or Lose’ that was featured on A Tribute To The Reggae Boyz. Following the soccer hit he maintained a high profile with songs such as ‘True Love’ and ‘It’s Strange’. In addition to his independent work Elliot also recorded with a variety of Jamaican producers and in 1999 released his debut, Save Me Oh Jah. He maintained a low profile through to 2000 when he licensed Meaning Of Life to a French record label. The album featured earlier works with producers such as Richard Bell and Colin McGregor, as well as Elliot’s self-productions. In 2001, the singer starred in the annual Rebel Salute tour. The Oldies But Goodies Show webcast live each Thursday at 7 PM EST on Global Linkz Radio - Available on Tunein Mobile App and 712-432-7760.

2002 ... Sitok Srengenge live @ 'Bar Open'

2002 ... Sitok Srengenge live @ 'Bar Open'
An evening with Sitok - 87mins Leading Indonesian poet Sitok Srengenge presents his poems in bahasa Indonesia ... alternating with Harry Aveling, a prolific translator of Indonesian poetry and prose, providing english readings.   One of the published poems later in the evening was read by Geoff Fox ... a long time friend of Sitok.   This one is not for the faint hearted ... however Sitok explains the context. Before Sitok and Harry ... Javant Biarugia, who did an Asialink Writer in Residence to Indonesia around the time of President Suharto's downfall, gives a reading from one of his plays about a Dutch Indo woman's reminiscences of living through the Japanese occupation in the early 40's.   From 25 minutes in ... to the end of the evening it's all Sitok and Harry [& Jeff]. For some idea of the artistic and political forces which Sitok participated in / lived through during his formative student years ... you could read a 1998 article from Inside Indonesia titled "Cleansing the earth" Bar Open is a great performance venue & bar in Fitzroy Melbourne Australia.    The event was organised by the now defunct Indonesia Interest Group under the umbrella of AsiaLink. 2008 ... Voice, Violin & Cello

    2008 ... Voice, Violin & Cello
Contemporary OZ music live from the Boite World Music Cafe - 9mins This is the only performance not fully improvised from a night of improvised music titled 'silouettes scampering' at the famous Boite World Music Cafe in Fitzroy Melbourne Australia. This moving piece was improvised around a composed section by vocalist/violinist Jess Ipkendanz ...  based on a fragment from a poem by Rilke. Their improvisations are stunning. To quote Jess:   "So the next little number is with me & Mel ... and we've decided to start this improvisation with something written.   This is a piece that I wrote just the other day and it's inspired by the story of Orpheus and Eurydice.   It's a mourning song for the death of Eurydice and the words that I've taken are just a fragment of the beautiful poem that I was very lucky to have read.   If you haven't yet read it ... go read it because it's absolutely stunning.   It's by Rilke.   So I've just taken a little fragment of that poem and set it to music.    And from there ... we will go forward."
