On today's show we talk with Capt. Jordan Todd of Saltwater Obsessions out of Port St Joe, FL. He tells us about an epic day on the water he had recently fishing the beaches. They have done everything from catch monster trout inshore, run the beaches looking for tarpon and big jack crevelle to 40 miles out chasing grouper, mahi & sailfish. It is a time of year where almost any way you chose to fish can be productive, the wind and weather are the real factors that determine how and where you fish. It doesn't get much better than it is right now, time to get out there and see what you can get into!

Along the beach is where most of the action can be found and this is the time of year to be prepared for many different scenarios as you could catch any thing from a Cobia to Pompano. The problem with running the beaches in the Spring is weather related. Windy days can force you to stay inshore and the good news is that there are plenty of opportunities to find success there as well but if you can run the beaches the fish are thick.

We talk about the recent surf fishing and how pretty much every species that should be feeding on the beach is there. That being said, this is a great time of year to surf fish or cruise the beach in a boat. If it's too rough to head offshore to take advantage of the upcoming Red Snapper season, there is still plenty of opportunity within the bay system. Brant gives us some general insight into bottom fishing inshore around Pensacola and some of the opportunities you could expect.

The wind has been blowing since we talked last week and that makes it tough to chase all of the fish moving along the beach this time of year. If you can get out the pompano, Spanish, bluefish, jack crevelle & redfish are all there and be sure to keep an eye out for cobia too. Inshore the redfish and speckled trout bite has been solid and the pilchards are expected to show up in full force any day now. It should be another great week as the temps continue to trend in the right direction!

With Spring Break & the Summer months approaching, there will be a lot of new visitors to the area and some of them will want to wet a line. The piers in the FL Panhandle offer outstanding fishing opportunities for those that don't have access to a boat or if it's just too rough to get out. Brant & I talk about some of the pier rules, written & unwritten as well as some basic etiquette that will help you to have the best experience possible. Lastly, I forgot to mention that Pensacola is on fire right now Cobia, Pompano, Spanish are all being caught regularly.

In today's episode we catch up with Capt. Justin Leake, host of Chasin' the Sun on the Discovery Channel & guide at Panama City Inshore out of Panama City Beach, FL. We discuss  how to pick the right tides for the right flats to sight fish redfish, we talk Tarpon migration (its too early but always fun to talk about) & we talk about the spring bite. It sounds like things are forging ahead and although this Easter weekend cold front will slow things down a little for a short amount of time, we should be past the point where a couple of cold nights shuts the fishing down for long. All good news for those of us that have been waiting the spring bite!

Today we check in with Capt. Jordan Todd of Saltwater Obsessions out of Port St Joe, FL. He tells us about catching a sturgeon in Indian Pass and lets us know where they are in the Spring warm up, sounds like Spring time is almost there. We also have great conversation about the year from an angling perspective and talk about some of the special, weird or just plain cool things that happened to them on the water. We also look ahead and see what the guys are planning to do through the winter. It really is a great episode and I couldn't think of a better way to wrap up our 1st full season.
