    Buy-Sell-Hold-2021

    Buy-Sell-Hold-2021

World markets are wobbling, international tensions are rising and economic volatility is creating nervousness. So, what better time for the annual Fremantle Docker review and Buy-Sell-Hold Restump recommendation report podcast!

Before you decide to tune in, we must declare that many of our 2020 strong purple player buys are currently in worse shape than the Evergrande Group! So, this is not investment advice and please consult your financial advisor.

As we approach the upcoming trade period we take a look at the individual seasons of the players, award them a score based on various and often extremely loose criteria and then apply a buy sell hold recommendation.

In a season full of injuries which saw 39 individual players on the Freo list used, scores and recommendations can be somewhat difficult. That right there is the Restump’s safety net for when our current recommendations get reviewed!

Did Liam Henry do enough to retain his strong buy? Will Blake Acres avoid falling into the sell category? Did desertion hurt Adam Cerra’s season review score? If you have some Hayden Young stock you’re overweighted in gold.

Plenty of assessments to get through so tune in and feel free to give us your own views and recommendations and don’t be shy in pointing out where you think we may be throwing good money after bad, if we’re paying unders or why we’re selling whoever.

Word of warning, you may need to listen in shifts. Like the season did to Fremantle, time got away from us and we were forever playing catch up.

Showed The Swans How To McFly

Showed The Swans How To McFly

How good to be back at the footy in the flesh on Saturday night; the Dockers got a win, we stayed relatively dry....great night!

After three weeks on the road and some performances that have left the Freo faithful feeling a little flat there was an energy at Optus on Saturday night. Rory Lobb was on fire up forward and the midfield brigade of Fyfe, Mundy, Cerra and Walters led the way as Freo scraped in for a relatively hard fought 2 point win over the Swans.

Walters has been spending most of his time up forward this year but was extremely influential when given a start in the centre square, Jojo and the Chief debate where his future should lie and whether his performance on the weekend will mean less time for the younger mids as the season wears on.

We go around the grounds and The Chief is back with his very popular Neighbourhood Watch segment. We're back on the winners list again, lets keep it rolling and knock off Port.

Don't Know What You Got 'Til Its Gone

Don't Know What You Got 'Til Its Gone

On Todays Pod we discuss the loss to the Lions from Sunday.

It was always going to be a tough assignment facing a Brisbane team away from home that is really starting to hit its straps in the past month. The boys went through patches where they matched it with the Lions but it was from too few and not for long enough. The 24 point margin probably flattered us a little in the end but nonetheless the boys fought out the contest well and didn't get blown out which is a positive coming into next weeks game against Essendon.

We also discuss Shai Bolton and a potential trade; communication problems internally and externally down at Freo and a few other bits and pieces from around the league.

    Just What We Needed

    Just What We Needed

On Today's Pod we look forward to the weekends match against Brisbane.

We put the derby behind us and hope that we get a positive response from the boys this week, we're back on the Gold Coast in a 'mini hub' so lets hope the bonding and camaraderie that we got last year from our stay over east is prevalent again.

Its going to be a tough assignment against a Lions team which has really hit its straps of late. Lets all hope for the best and...

Just Measuring The Gap Between Our Best & Worst

On Today’s Pod we discuss the debacle that was Sunday’s Derby.

The Freo faithful came crashing back to earth with an almighty thud on Sunday afternoon as we put in one of our worst performances for the season; in the end getting done over by 59 points.

There weren’t many positives to be found and all of a sudden the three game winning g streak feels like a distant memory but we’re in for the long haul so...

    Kicking Kneads To Get Butter

On Today’s Pod we talk about Saturday Nights victory over the Kangaroos.

Three in a row, the streak is getting serious!

Although North aren’t the most formidable adversary the circumstances of the week in Perth and the empty stadium could have thrown the boys in Purple off; alas they held firm and disposed of the Kangas in a pretty straight forward manner.

The challenges only get greater from here with opponents West Coast; Brisbane and Port Adelaide all appearing in our next 5 games. The season begins now!

We are lucky enough to be joined by Maddie (@maddiemelb on Twitter) to give us a bit of insight on life as a Kangaroos supporter and her expectations for this weekends game and the season as a whole.

Freo have the chance to build on the winning streak this week so lets make sure we all get there early to honour the memory of the ANZACs and also make sure we...

Well What Do You Know, It Worked!

Well What Do You Know, It Worked!

On Today’s Pod we celebrate the magnificent away win over the Adelaide Crows.

It hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for us but the boys navigated the hit and run mission in the city of churches with precision; 4 points in the bag and back to safe ground for 3 weeks of home games.

Without getting too carried away there was a lot to be excited about for the Freo faithful; our backline returned to its intercepting and rebounding best, the mids fought through some early struggles to get on top and our much discussed forward line started to show signs of life.

There’s never been a better time to.....

    For Sudden Selection Issue Headaches

On Today's Pod we preview the match against the Adelaide Crows this weekend.

Coming off arguably our best performance of the season against the Hawks last Sunday hopes and dreams of the Freo faithful are on the rise. The early season injury epidemic is now behind us, reinforcements are returning to the fold as each week ticks by, can this be the week where we string 2 good performances together?

Amongst other things we discuss Adam Cerra resigning, Scomo's visit to Perth and the Mid Season draft.

The Milkman Does Deliver on Sundays

On Today's Pod we review the win over the Hawks on Sunday.

The boys bounced back in tremendous fashion following the dissapointing showing againt the Blues. We didn't kick straight but at least we kicked something!

After mixed messaging last week from JL and the gang re: selecttion the Freo faithful were pleased to see a debut from rookie big man Josh 'Cyclone' Treacy and a comeback game for last years Rising Star nominee Sam Sturt.

We matched them physically and go the 4 points, lets do it on the road while we...

Not Sure They’re Collecting Fire Wood

On Today's Pod we talk all things Freo v Carlton from Sunday.

It didn't quite play out the way we all hoped on Sunday, chock full of confidence following a dominant win over GWS the week prior the $3.30 on offer for a Fremantle triumph this week quickly turned into gross unders. We got smashed in the midfield from the start and were never able to play the game anywhere close to our terms making for a very difficult watch.

We've got Hawthorn at home next Sunday and it can't come quick enough, we'll mourn then move on and....

    Talkin' Bout a Revolution

    Talkin' Bout a Revolution

On Today's Pod we'll preview tomorrow's match with GWS.

Round 1 was a tough watch but we get a second chance against the Giants at Optus tomorrow afternoon.

To say Freo is enduring an injury curse would have to be one of the greater understatements of all time as we barely have enough players to field a team. but the boys we have wearing purple will surely turn in a better showing than last week.

Tabs resigned for 3 more years, word is out on Cerra and we didn't mention in the Pod but James Aish plays game 100 so there is some positive vibes creeping in!

I think we're all looking forward to our first home game of the year and getting amognst the Purple Army again willing on the boys. Enjoy the day tomorrow and......

Hearts Broken Into A Thousand Pearces

Hearts Broken Into A Thousand Pearces

On Today's Pod we discuss Saturday Mornings game against the Melbourne Demons.

The Freo faithful were cautiously optimistic going into Round 1, coming off what was an encouraging season in 2020 I think we all were of the belief that this season could be one where we would see a bit of further growth.

It wasn't to be on this occassion, the fears we had regarding scoring and forward line personnel came to bear and we were left with an uncomfortbale feeling of emptiness when the final siren blew.

We'll discuss the game, injuries, potential replacements and probably some other rubbish along the way.

We discuss the implications of being struck down with the injury curse early in the season with setbacks to key players Matt Taberner, Sean Darcy and the veteran Steven Hill.

Pre Season training seems to be in the spotlight more than ever this season with JL making comments around increased scoring and a focus on ball movement and game style. We discuss how realistic the increase in goals are and what fans expectations should be going into the season.

Darcy On Crutches 'Must Be Preseason'

Darcy On Crutches 'Must Be Preseason'

On Today's Pod The Chief decides to talk into the microphone so there is a good chance you will hear some of his wise words this week.

Unfortunately the major news out of Freo this week was a knee injury to ruckman Sean Darcy, the big man will be in a brace for 2-4 weeks before being reassessed which leaves a bit of a hole in our big man stocks.

The season of dancing with your sister is in full force and everyone is looking a million bucks, as meaningless as it is we take some positives from the Dockers first intra club pre season hit out.

We talk Out of contract Dockers and father son prospects; its only a month and a bit till we see some footy but right now........

Watch Running Rory Keep Opponents At Bay

On Todays Podcast we catch up after the festive break and catch up with where the Dockers are at so far this preseason.

Its customary for each and every AFL player to be setting PB's and burning up the track at this point each year and it seems that is what is going on down at Cockburn. We discuss whether its any different to previous years and a few noteworthy items that have arisen so far.

The 2021 fixture was released (well the first six rounds) and the boys from Freo have been snubbed again, we've been pidgeon holed back into our seemingly perminent home at 10:00am on a Saturday morning with only one night fixture. They've done it to us again and the Chief is not happy!

We discuss Freo's best 22 in relation to a team published in the West, who was snubbed and how are we shaping up.

Footy season is coming around again quick, hopefully we get a full season,

With Freo initally having a pick at number 12 in the 2020 Draft there lies a new opportunity to add another high calibre youngster to an already healthy youth brigade. The draft haul in 2019 of Young, Serong and Henry provided much excitement this season, we put forward suggestions of who wed like to see join in the fun in season 2020.

We'll discuss the 2-4 year boys being back at training this week along with some mature bodies looking for an early start to what will hopefully be a fruitful  season in 2020 and the Chief forces upon us another edition of his news room.

Left A Giant Hole In Our Heart

On Todays Restump we discuss the big news of Jesse Hogan's now impending departure to GWS.

Its been an interesting journey to say the least since we acquired Hogan from Melbourne a few seasons back, to say that the experience didn't go according to plan could be the understatement of the year.

We look at the what, how, why and where to?

We also discuss free agent compensation; and the Chief gives a very unhelpful Melbourne Cup preview in the Betting Badgers absence.
