It’s new camera week! The boys are excited over the launch, at last, of the latest Fujifilm X100 camera; the X100VI, or SIX! Also today, the photographers (past or present) Neale and Kev would choose to spend quality time with, our thoughts about using third-party lenses, final details about the 2nd March event at the House of Photography in London, supporting each other during times of trouble in the industry and advice for shooting your first professional gig in low light.

Kev has a dental appointment at two-thirty, TRUE, he really does, so we’re recording this before he finds “Drinks Reception” even harder to say! #244 Please Sir, can we have an X-Pro M(onochrom)? Plus Mr Whisper’s BIG noise on the street

Neale has a bad case of flight wind and Kev is saving £1 a week for the rest of his life so he can afford Leica’s new Monochrom camera, whilst wishing and hoping that Fujifilm may at last release their own dedicated BW-only camera, especially now that even Pentax have launched theirs! One thing is for sure, both our boys are lamenting the closure of DPReview. Questions today on sharpening; to sharpen or not to sharpen, switching from a DLSR with an optical viewfinder to an electronic viewfinder in a Fujifilm mirrorless, building a new portfolio, working for free, removing pictures of those who have passed from online portfolios, shooting tethered with Fujifilm cameras, wonky frozen sub monitors and more. Our guest this week, visiting us for the first of two editions, is London-based street and travel photographer, Mr. Whisper.

#243 The Photobusiness Blueprint and don’t get angry, GET INSTAGRAM!

It’s also the second concluding part of our conversation with Kristina Varaksina, UK Fujifilm ambassador.

#237 End of the road for the X-Pro? And TRUST your pictures

#237 End of the road for the X-Pro? And TRUST your pictures

Kev moves into plumbing services it seems and Neale’s left wondering where the years seem be disappearing to. Meanwhile is it time to drop DSLR from our language, is the X-Pro 3 the last of the lineage, if the brand was Fuji-Mullins - what would the next camera release be? Also today, strong post wedding sales, we talk ’shooting square’, try to figure how some photographers find an ‘X factor,’ understand why the X100 range has a small form factor, and accurate colour from your monitor. Book of the Show is The Perfect Imperfect by John Dolan and after the show on the Patreon channel the pop up show features our first member’s picture critique, street pictures from Wade Brown in Australia.

Neale laments another England footie exit, though gets over it within 15.7 seconds, whilst Mullins is too full of cold to even know the result. This week, assigning buttons, even more shortcuts and why Kev is selling gear! We muse over which design elements of the cameras and lenses we use today could be the result of Mullins’ contributions to the suggestions box at Fujifilm HQ’s design floor in Japan, we discuss which sensors have more of a filmic feel in the Fujifilm range and photo processing to achieve that look, original X100 values, first and preferred lens choices, IBIS and another case of ’The Worms!’ Beware sharpening levels. Our guest is Chris Orange on food photography and his special assignment!

Also, a pop-up competition to ‘competition’ to find Kev’s suspect wedding image! Plus a trip to Japan this week to hear from Fujifilm product planners and executives answer your questions.

It’s a special FujiCast week with new kit announcements, plus we talk about entrusting your post-processing to a computer; is artificial intelligence good enough to process a look and feel into your precious photographs? Also, are cameras becoming too small for comfortably holding, do you wear ear protection on loud jobs, what spare items do you carry in the kit bag that are not photographic but possible ‘life savers’, how long do you really need to hold on to raws, do your LR pictures need deworming, is Twitter the new ‘best’ way to share our pictures, and would you like a GFX and a stash of cash for the year to go and make the best photo story?
