IGLTA, the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association, was founded in 1983 and is the world's leading network of LGBTQ+-welcoming tourism businesses. They provide free travel resources and information while continuously working to promote equality and safety within LGBTQ+ tourism worldwide.

Life is good!

Redefining LGBTQ Travel — A Conversation with Misterbandb Founder, Matthieu Jost

Redefining LGBTQ Travel — A Conversation with Misterbandb Founder, Matthieu Jost

Misterb&b, like many great start-up concepts, was born out of necessity. Founder and entrepreneur Matthieu Jost sat down with me for an interview and revealed the upsetting homophobic incident that spurred the idea for his company.

In a nutshell, a few years back, Jost and his partner applied as guests at a short-term rental in Barcelona during a trip to Spain. However, they were quickly turned down after the owner realized they were gay.

They found new lodging in the Catalan capital, but the experience was still painful and disappointing. It got him thinking about what he could do to ensure LGBTQ travelers could find welcoming accommodations all around the world despite their sexual orientation.

The ordeal led him to carve out a long-overdue category in the travel industry with his brand emerging as one of the top travel resources for the LGBTQ community.

Have a listen to my discussion with Matthieu/  Read the interview at Instinct Magazine and book your next great Gaycation through

Homophobia In The Caribbean - Our Experience At Sonesta Resorts And More

Homophobia In The Caribbean - Our Experience At Sonesta Resorts And More

Homophobia in the Caribbean is still a very real thing despite the many  advances we have experienced in the United States in recent years.   Yet as recent as two weeks ago, at the Sonesta Beach Ocean Point resort in St. Maarten, Mike and his partner Eric experienced discrimination and homophobia, the result of interacting with other gay guests staying on the property while poolside.  Accused of sneaking in others using non-existent video footage as proof, Mike and Eric had to defend themselves in the lobby of the Sonesta Resort to the dismay of others, while facing an additional $800+ in charges.  Sadly, this isn't the first time Mike and Eric have experienced homophobic discrimination in the Caribbean, and during this episode, gay travelers are encouraged to research their Caribbean destinations prior to booking.   Mike discusses this ongoing concern with 20 cruises under his belt as avid oceanic traveler.  With important information for anyone that identifies as members of the LGBTQ+ community, this episode is a must listen if you're planning a vacation to this beautiful, but potentially dangerous part of the globe.

Is Kansas City The F Capital of the World? (Gay Travel & Problematic Slurs)

Is Kansas City The F Capital of the World? (Gay Travel & Problematic Slurs)

This week we tackle some key issues. Bobby jokingly asks Jim if he wants to have a pussy and learns that being trans or presenting a certain way does not put you in any box or label. We then go right into the Cincinnati Reds announcer, Thom Brennan, speaking on a hot mic about how Kansas City is the " one of the fag capitals of the world". Jim opens up about why the word triggers him but also how to spin it back and not allowing the word to hurt him. This week also is about Gay travel and what we feel about it. Bobby gets really anxious and Jim fights to feel "normal" by suggesting that going on all gay vacations is a good thing. We also do the much anticipated much loved (on patreon) rapid fire.

***Note: This week has a lot of hot topics and a lot of words that some people will find offensive. We use some words like pussy and dick to be funny but we also use the word Fag and Faggot to laugh and learn instead of let it continue to hurt us. We are all love and please feel free to reach out to us if you feel something we said was out of line***
