    The 17th annual Addison Gayle Memorial Lecture Series features Dr. Simon Gikandi, a Robert Schirmer Professor of English at Princeton University. The title of his talk is "The Black Aesthetic in the Age of Globalization."

    This lecture series is named in honor of Addison Gayle, Jr., CUNY Distinguished Professor of English, who taught at Baruch College for many years until his death in October 1991.

    Jeffrey M. Peck, Dean of the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, makes the welcoming remarks. English Professor Tuzyline Allan who is in charge of organizing the Addison Gayle Memorial Lecture series, speaks briefly about the event. Clarence Taylor, Professor of Black and Hispanic Studies & Professor of History, speaks about the black studies. Kevin Frank, Professor of English, introduces the speaker.

    The event takes place on March 31, 2011, at the Baruch College Newman Conference Center, 7th floor.
