On est en plein hiver, avec son lot de journées de grands froids, de très grands froids même au Québec, où le thermomètre descend à -20, et même parfois plus bas. Durant ces jours-là, évidemment, on a tous tendance à monter le chauffage le matin en se levant, on aime tous se réchauffer sous une douche chaude le soir, on a envie de se réconforter en mettant un bon petit plat au four... Et puisqu’on le fait tous en même temps, et qu’il fait très froid, cela consomme beaucoup, beaucoup d’électricité. Ces moments-là, on les appelle les pointes hivernales. Durant ces périodes, notre réseau électrique est fortement sollicité, au point qu’Hydro-Québec doit parfois acheter de l’électricité dans les marchés voisins. Alors est-ce que c’est fréquent ça, ces pointes hivernales? Et comment on fait pour les réduire? Sujet coécrit avec Hydro-Québec.

Dermatologist  | Vancouver

Dr.Angela Law is a dually certified dermatologist in Canada and the US. She completed her medical school training at the University of British Columbia and was accepted into the joint Dermatology program between the University of Saskatchewan and Dalhousie University. She opened SkinSense Dermatology in Saskatoon after residency and practiced medical and aesthetic dermatology for six years before moving back to Vancouver during the COVID pandemic.  

She is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Dermatology and Skin Sciences at UBC and sits on the Undergraduate Education Committee in Dermatology. She has a special interest in pediatric and adolescent dermatology but has been trained in all aspects of medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. She splits her time between her new medical clinic with a group of seasoned plastic surgeons at Clinic One Three Eight in downtown Vancouver, aesthetics at Dermapure and a Dermatology rapid access clinic at Mount St. Joseph’s Hospital through Providence Health.
