Round 6: Unpredictable Bayern, Ryerson in the NFL, St. Pauli Hipsters, and Leroy Sané

Bayern started off poorly but fought themselves back into the game following an impressive first half by RB Leipzig. Why are Bayern still so unpredictable? And are RB Leipzig, with their historically good start, a real title contender alongside Leverkusen and under-the-rader Dortmund? Stuttgart and Wolfsburg continue in strong fashion, while Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt are struggling for goals and points. At the bottom of the table, Mainz, Köln, and Bochum are having a disastrous start to the question, and at what point can we expect departures? Jan  (@JanAageFjortoft) provides some further insight into the Max Eberl drama between RB Leipzig and Bayern Munchen, while alongside Markus (@MarkusFjortoft), they name their Players of the Week and 2. Bundesliga recap.

Round 5: The Chase of the Torjäger & Bayern's "New Mbappe"!

Round 5: The Chase of the Torjäger & Bayern's "New Mbappe"!

For a former Bundesliga and Eintracht Frankfurt striker, it is twofold for Jan (@JanAageFjortoft) at the moment. Frankfurt remains undefeated but is struggling to score enough goals. However, the chase to claim the Torjägerkanone is well and truly on as the likes of Stuttgart's Guirassy, Leverkusen's Boniface, and of course, Bayern's Kane are recording numbers that far exceed last season's rather underwhelming figures. We also check in with Julien Laurens (@LaurensJulien) a highly respected French journalist and pundit, who provides us with further insight into Bayern's wonderkid, Mathys Tel. Finally, we conclude with our 2. Bundesliga special and Jan and Markus's (@MarkusFjortoft) Players of the Week!

Round 4: Top-Clash Thriller, Historic Heidenheim, Bundesliga's Heskey & New Bundestrainer?

Round 4: Top-Clash Thriller, Historic Heidenheim, Bundesliga's Heskey & New Bundestrainer?

What a thriller! Jan (@JanAageFjortoft) was at the Bayern Munich - Bayer Leverkusen game, and what a game we were served as the two title contenders shared the points at the Allianz Arena. Jan's got a man-crush on Xabi Alonso, as his pitch-side interviews for ESPN provided insight into how the players and managers reflected on the game. Jan and Markus (@MarkusFjortoft) also discuss the other title contenders, such as the high-flying RB Leipzig, the not-all-too-unconvincing Dortmund, and, let us dream while we can, Stuttgart and Hoffenheim. Heidenheim recorded their first-ever win in the Bundesliga as Head Coach Frank Schmidt enjoyed the record of becoming the longest-serving head coach in German football history. We also discuss the latest on the search for Germany's next manager while naming our Bundesliga Player of the Week.

LATEST: Hansi Flick Fired! Why & How It Is Going So Wrong For Germany? Who Will Replace Him?

LATEST: Hansi Flick Fired! Why & How It Is Going So Wrong For Germany? Who Will Replace Him?

Hansi Flick has been dismissed as Germany's national team coach following their 1-4 loss to Japan in Wolfsburg. He was brought in with great optimism after achieving a treble triumph with Bayern, but Germany's defeat to Japan marked their third consecutive loss under his leadership. During Flick's tenure, Germany managed to win just one of the last six games, resulting in the second-worst record in history for the DFB, with only Erich Ribbeck having a worse record with the German national team.

The search for a new manager continues, led by Sporting Director Rudi Voller, President Neuendorf, and Vice-President Hans-Joachim Watzke. Jan Aage Fjortoft  (@JanAageFjortoft) answers Markus's (@MarkusFjortoft) questions to help us understand why and how things went so wrong for Flick and German football,

In addition, we will delve into discussions about potential replacements as Germany seeks to restore hope ahead of the Euros, which will be hosted at home next year.

Round 3: Heidenheim Heroics, Guirassy Golazos & Transfer Strategies

Jan (@JanAageFjortoft) has been to the Vatican with Eintracht Frankfurt, believe it or not, and so we start off our Bundesliga Round 3 analysis, as Markus (@MarkusFjortoft) asks one former Eintracht #9 about another departing Eintracht #9, Kolo Muani, who is leaving for PSG. We delve into the transfer strategies of Bayern, Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Leverkusen and the people behind the good, the bad, and the ugly. Plus, we give special shoutouts to our Players of the Week. Oh, and Hertha Berlin lost 6-4. Just another normal day in the 2. Bundesliga.

Round 2: Too Soon To Judge Dortmund? High-Flying Leverkusen! Union TOP!

Round 2: Too Soon To Judge Dortmund? High-Flying Leverkusen! Union TOP!

The second week of Bundesliga is concluded, and reporting from a hotel room in Manchester, Jan (@JanAageFjortoft) and Markus  (@MarkusFjortoft) assess Dortmund's unconvincing start to the season, while Leverkusen, in contrast, are looking increasingly likely to contend right at the very top this season. RB Leipzig's second half comeback ensured they're back on track after last weekend's loss to Leverkusen, while Harry Kane ensured he's off to a high-flying start to his Bundesliga career. Lots to unpick, as Jan and Markus also provide their insights on the standout player of the round, including a Bundesliga debutant and a striker with Norwegian top-flight experience.

Week 34: Dortmund Slip Up As Bayern Win Title, Union Secure Champions League, Schalke and Hertha Go Down & Drama in 2. Bundesliga

Week 34: Dortmund Slip Up As Bayern Win Title, Union Secure Champions League, Schalke and Hertha Go Down & Drama in 2. Bundesliga

Jan Åge Fjørtoft (@JanAageFjortoft)  and Markus Fjortoft (@MarkusFjortoft) recap what can only be described as an astonishing final round in both the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga! Dortmund's hopes of clinching the Bundesliga title were dashed when they settled for a draw against Mainz at home. In a nail-biting finish, Bayern managed to secure a late victory against Köln, sealing their eleventh consecutive title. Outside Westfallenstadion, a staggering crowd of 60,000 fans eagerly anticipated Dortmund's triumph over Bayern, but a combination of factors, primarily psychological, proved to be the decisive factor.

In a remarkable turn of events, Union improved upon their position from the previous season and remarkably secured a well-deserved spot in the Champions League, alongside RB Leipzig. Meanwhile, despite Schalke's impressive resurgence in the latter half of the season, their efforts fell short, resulting in their relegation to the 2. Bundesliga alongside Hertha Berlin. Taking their places in the top flight are Darmstadt and Heidenheim, who earned promotion. The playoffs will witness Stuttgart and Hamburg battling it out for the last remaining Bundesliga spot, adding another layer of excitement to this thrilling weekend.

Join us as we delve into all the captivating stories that unfolded during this rollercoaster weekend.

Week 33: Miracle of Haller, Bayern Revolution 2.0(?), Relegation Stand-Off & Erling Haaland

Week 33: Miracle of Haller, Bayern Revolution 2.0(?), Relegation Stand-Off & Erling Haaland

Jan Åge Fjørtoft (@JanAageFjortoft)  and Markus Fjortoft (@MarkusFjortoft)  kick off with the miracle of Sébastien Haller, whose two goals propel Dortmund towards a potential Bundesliga title and signal the possible end of Bayern's 10-year reign, following RB Leipzig's stunning victory at the Allianz Arena. However, the final chapter of this thrilling Bundesliga season is yet to be written, and while Bayern is in need of change, historical precedent suggests they have triumphed in similar circumstances in the past.

Meanwhile, Stuttgart and Hoffenheim secure convincing wins, while Schalke and Bochum salvage a fighting chance with their late equalizers. Lastly, Jan was in Manchester yesterday as City celebrated their Premier League title victory. He had the opportunity to talk to Erling and Alfie Haaland pitchside, marking an incredible journey that began in Norway, continued through Austria and Germany, and has now brought them to England.

Jan Åge Fjørtoft (@JanAageFjortoft)  and Markus Fjortoft (@MarkusFjortoft) discuss the referee scandal in Bochum, which means Dortmund now are trailing Bayern at the top of the Bundesliga, while Bochum's point ensures they are still outside an increasingly contentious relegation zone. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt CEO Alex Hellmann has committed to staying for the remainder of his contract, ensuring one of their main sources of continuity remains put. We also have a special greeting from Ted Lasso and an "exclusive" with Usain Bolt.

Week 29: The Kahn Saga Continues, Xabi Alonso & Dortmund Top the Bundesliga

Jan Åge Fjørtoft (@JanAageFjortoft) has been somewhat stealing the headlines in German Football ever since he exclusively announced that Bayern was strongly considering firing CEO Oliver Kahn. Markus Fjortoft (@MarkusFjortoft) talks with him to discuss how he's experienced seeing the story develop since then, his analysis of why Kahn is more at risk of being removed than Sports Director Salihamidžić, and what role Uli Hoeneß plays in all this.

Further, they discuss Dortmund topping the league and their biggest enemy being... themselves, as well as the re-emergence of Bayer Leverkusen led by Xabi Alonso as they chase the Champions League spots against the likes of Union Berlin, Freiburg, and RB Leipzig.

LATEST: Is Oliver Kahn Getting Fired?

It appears that the departure of Oliver Kahn, the CEO of Bayern Munich, is an ongoing process and just a matter of time according to sources of Jan Åge Fjørtoft (@JanAageFjortoft).

It seems that the club hierarchy is beginning to recognize the importance of accountability at all levels, including those in higher positions. Following Bayern's controversial decision to replace Julian Nagelsmann with Thomas Tuchel ahead of a season-defining run-in, and the subsequent failures, responsibility is now being shifted to CEO Oliver Kahn.
