While it’s not an in-depth full recap, we discuss the Path of the Open Hand, characters and their relationships, the fate of some of our Phase 1 favorites and the Battle of Dalna and its consequences. If you want to avoid spoilers for Cataclysm, skip 45:50-1:05:05.

Ep. 22.5: Cooking with Brie Blackford of Elda’s Kitchen

In this special episode we interview Brie Blackford from Elda's Kitchen.  I am joined by Hector, Marisol, and Alma "The Queen of BBQ".  We talk about her weekly Facebook live videos.  Brie tells us how Elda's Kitchen got started and a little history behind it.  She reminisces about cooking with her Grandma and how it inspired her to continue the tradition of cooking for the family. She talks about the different flavor profiles from sauces such as Black Pepper, Spikey, Steakhouse, Peach Habanero, Jamaican Jerk and many more.  We learn about Alpa Beta in California.  We make our pitch to HEB to get Elda's Kitchen on their shelves.  Hector gives them a big pat on the back for all they do for the community.

We cooked wings on the barbecue pit and tried all the sauces.  We also learn you can use these sauces to upgrade  your drinks. We talk about being creative and mixing some sauces together as we do in the barbecue world.  We also talk about barbecue and how Brie is trying to get more into barbecue.

Alma joins the show and talks about a catering event when she got to test the batch of sample sauces.  Alma and Brie talk some butcher shop and different cuts of meats.  Brie thinks about visiting Texas again and making a trip to Vera's King O Meats.  She also gives us some tips on she likes to cook her steaks.

Aaron Carnes - In Defense Of Ska

Aaron Carnes - In Defense Of Ska

Aaron Carnes is the author of In Defense of Ska, from CLASH! Publishing, a book that champions one of the world’s most maligned music genres.

Aaron is a music journalist based out of Sacramento, California. His work has appeared in Playboy, Salon, Bandcamp Daily, Sierra Club, Noisey and Sun Magazine. He’s also the music editor at Good Times Santa Cruz weekly newspaper, where he tries to sneak in ska content whenever his boss isn’t looking.

Aaron has been listening to ska since the early ’90s. He used to play drums in a ska band. Now he just plays ska on his car stereo.

When he’s not defending ska, he enjoys backpacking with his wife Amy Bee, and talking about music from every existing genre.

Though ska will always be his favorite.

Insights Into Teens: Episode 27 "Active Shooter Awareness"

Insights Into Teens: Episode 27 "Active Shooter Awareness"

Today's podcast took an unexpectedly tragic turn when we learned of two additional shooting events between the time the podcast was recorded on Saturday morning and it's scheduled release date of Monday morning. Having been scheduled several weeks in advance we were unaware of just how relevant the subject matter would be when we sat down to record it.

In the podcast we define what active shooters are, how to respond if you are in or near a situation of an active shooter and safety tips for how to conduct yourself under such circumstances. We also talk about what preparations the schools are making at this time to help protect our children and how as a last resort you can try to defend yourself in a terrifying and impossible situation of an active shooter.

An original podcast by a husband and wife team of self professed pop-culture geeks. It is a discussion about all things entertainment from movies and music to television and pop culture. We examine some of the more obscure aspects of the entertainment industry.

Episode 14: Velvet Buzzsaw, or Gyllenhallelujah

Episode 14: Velvet Buzzsaw, or Gyllenhallelujah

This week, Abdul, Laura & Evan take a swab to the mouth of VELVET BUZZSAW, a compelling, but not compelling enough Netflix feature from Dan Gilroy.

Kino Lefter is a movie review podcast where we (allegedly) watch whatever movie is hot this week and break it down from a pointedly left perspective, looking at what it says about our culture, and a society, which is something we live in.
