Murray Olds: Australian correspondent on ICAC finding former NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian corrupt in secret relationship

Murray Olds: Australian correspondent on ICAC finding former NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian corrupt in secret relationship

Australia's anti-corruption Commission isn't recommending charges against former New South Wales Premier, Gladys Berejiklian.

It's today said it found the former Premier was corrupt in her secret relationship with lover and former MP, Daryl Maguire.

But the watchdog says Maguire should be charged.

Australian correspondent Murray Olds says the one-time Wagga Wagga MP was reportedly running a cash-for-visas scheme.

"He was chair of the New South Wales Parliament's Asia-Pacific friendship group. I'll be your friend, it'll cost you $10,000."

Will Gladys Be Our Next Female PM?

Will Gladys Be Our Next Female PM?

One week ago, the woman who has established herself as one of NSW's most popular politicians ever, Premier Gladys Berejiklian sensationally quit following the news that the State's anti-corruption commission ICAC would be investigating her actions.

It all stems back to a number of grants handed out in the Wagga Wagga electorate of her former secret boyfriend, disgraced MP Daryl Maguire, but the question is did she do something wrong or is she a victim of circumstance and speculation?

The Quicky speaks to an Australian politics expert to find out why Gladys is under investigation, and if this in fact could be the catalyst for her not only surviving a scandal, but rising from the ashes to the very highest office in Australia.
