The First Great Awakening Part 2 - The Fields Are White For Harvest

The First Great Awakening Part 2 - The Fields Are White For Harvest

The American colonies had fallen into spiritual apathy, and they desperately needed to be stirred up again. God answered this need with the First Great Awakening. George Whitefield was a university student who came to know God in a powerful way and then set out to help others know Him too. After helping bring revival to England, Whitefield felt God calling him to preach in the colonies. There, he found the fields ready for harvest because God had already been working through other church leaders. The first such church leader was Theodorus Frelinghuysen.

#62 - MIAA Ice Hockey Playoff Preview with Phil Nicastro of Cape Ann LIVE!

Today we have a special episode produced in conjunction with Cape Ann LIVE! Earlier today, Sunday 02/26, I sat down with our friend and previous podcast guest, Phil Nicastro, the announcer for Gloucester Fisherman hockey here in Massachusetts, to preview the MIAA boys high school ice hockey playoff tournament. Our focus was mostly on the teams in the Northeastern Conference, but you’ll get a pretty good picture of which teams to look for when the games start on Monday, Feb 27.

The video of this conversation was streamed by Cape Ann LIVE! on Facebook, and it will (I think) eventually appear on Cape Ann LIVE’s YouTube channel.

An ISE Grad, a UK Hill and a Wheel of Cheese

An ISE Grad, a UK Hill and a Wheel of Cheese
In this episode, we talk with Abby Lampe, a 2022 industrial engineering graduate of North Carolina State University. In June, Abby competed and won the women’s division of the Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake event in Gloucester, England. The event, which goes back to the early 1800s, has participants tumble down a steep, 200-yard hill to capture an 8-pound wheel of Gloucester’s finest cheese. Abby talks about the experience, how she applied her ISE skills and her newfound fame as the cheese-rolling champion.
