    3: 18-21
    MARK
    1: 12-15

Lent and its presence in the Bible: Lent, although not strictly mentioned in the Bible, is deeply rooted in the biblical themes of training, testing, and preparing, closely associated with the number 40, which holds significant symbolic value throughout the Bible.  Your Host Julie South includes Fr Mike's answer to "where is Lent mentioned in the Bible" (Fr Mike - Ascension Presents).

Symbolism in Bible passages: Julie shines some light on the intriguing metaphors in this week's passages:

    • Genesis - highlighting the timeless spiritual messages they offer. The rainbow as a sign of God's covenant with Noah, the comparison of the flood to baptism [in]
    • 1 Peter - Jesus' wilderness experience as a period of purification in
    • Mark's Gospel painted a vivid picture of spiritual significance.

God's Ongoing Plan of Redemption: The episode beautifully illustrates the interconnectedness of God's promises, referred to as covenants, with his people.  This emphasises the themes of:

    • salvation,
    • renewal, and
    • spiritual preparation across the Old Testament and the Gospels.

Deuteronomy 1-2 | Why Does God Harden Hearts?

Deuteronomy 1-2 | Why Does God Harden Hearts?

Deuteronomy 1-2 begins with Moses addressing the Israelites, reminding them of their journey from Mount Sinai to the Promised Land, and recounting their failures and successes along the way. He emphasizes the importance of obeying God's commands and warns them against rebellion, idolatry, and disobedience.

Moses then reminds the Israelites of their previous attempts to enter the Promised Land, which resulted in their failure due to their lack of faith and trust in God. He recounts their 40-year journey in the wilderness, during which time God provided for them, protected them, and disciplined them when necessary.

In chapter 2, Moses recounts the Israelites' journey through the lands of Edom, Moab, and Ammon, and how God instructed them not to attack these nations. He reminds them of God's promise to give them the land of Canaan, and how God helped them defeat Sihon, the king of the Amorites, and Og, the king of Bashan.

One of the main themes in Deuteronomy is the importance of obeying God's commands and the consequences of disobedience. This includes the concept of God hardening hearts, which is mentioned several times in the Bible, including here in Deuteronomy.

The idea of God hardening hearts can be difficult to understand, but it is generally interpreted as God allowing people to continue in their stubbornness and rebellion, rather than directly causing them to be disobedient. In other words, God is not forcing people to disobey, but is allowing them to exercise their free will and face the consequences of their choices.

Ultimately, the message of Deuteronomy is that obedience to God leads to blessings and prosperity, while disobedience leads to destruction and exile. The book emphasizes the importance of remembering God's faithfulness and the need to obey His commands in order to receive His blessings.

Letters From Heaven (Revelation) No.11- A Door to Heaven at Lockwood Ridge

Letters From Heaven (Revelation) No.11- A Door to Heaven at Lockwood Ridge
Today at GraceLife we celebrate the official opening of our doors on Lockwood Ridge to the community. It’s a special day in the history of our young, little church, and we are so glad for everyone here to celebrate with us. What does the phrase “Grand Opening” mean to you? What exactly we are celebrating as a church? Yes, we celebrate the accomplishment, we’re excited, but it must be more than that, It is just a building after all. We don’t celebrate brick and mortar, We are celebrating a new door of ministry Jesus has opened for GraceLife. Future opportunities to be a lampstand, to preach the Gospel, which we know is power of God for salvation. That’s the grand opening we celebrate, & what’s on other side of the door Jesus has opened for us, His mercy, grace, majesty & glory. That’s the topic we are studying in our series on Revelation the next few weeks, starting with today’s passage. It should be read as an epilogue to the letters to the 7 churches, something EVERY church should read in community.

    Love Gone Wrong

    Love Gone Wrong

The word ‘idolatry’ may come across as an ancient, primitive idea, but it’s a much bigger problem for us modern people than anybody realizes. If left unchecked, it can wreak havoc on our lives. The good news is God’s Word offers solutions. We’ll explore that as we look at 1 Kings 11.

    1. The Root of Idolatry
    2. The "Fruit" of Idolatry
    3. The Treatment for Idolatry
