Flipping Tables and Eternal Life - The Gospels

Flipping Tables and Eternal Life - The Gospels

In this Bible Story, we witness the righteous anger of Jesus. During the Passover, corrupt money-changers and religious leaders exploit people’s desire to worship. So Jesus fashions a whip and drives them out. This story is inspired by John 2:13-23, John 3: 1-21, Numbers 21:4-9. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is John 2:15 from the King James Version.

Episode 178: As Jesus entered the temple gates during Passover, His eyes were open to the corruption of that sacred place. Where there should have been awe and a sense of holiness, a marketplace existed. Instead of forgiveness, the religious leaders were requiring fees. Jesus could not stand this happening in God’s temple, so He drove out the buyers, sellers, and the money changers! The temple priests challenged Him on this but Jesus did not falter. Later that evening though, one of the Pharisees came to Him to know more about who He was and what He came to do.

Bedridden - The Book of Acts

In this Bible Story, we see the work of God through Peter. One man is restored from being crippled for eight years. Another is dead and raised to life. In this, we see the will of God moving people out of their beds into a life of purpose. This story is inspired by Acts 9:32-43. Go to https://www.BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is Acts 9:34 from the King James Version.

Episode 224: Peter, walking the streets of Lydda preaching the Gospel to all who would listen, came to a man named Aeneas. Aeneas had been bedridden for eight years but God had sent Peter there to heal him. And at a word, Aeneas was healed and God used this healing to bring many people to Him. Meanwhile, in Joppa, a disciple named Tabitha became ill and died. Her friends sent for Peter at once and when he arrived he took Tabitha by the hand and told her to arise. God restored life to Tabitha’s body and many people celebrated God’s goodness with her.

Stories of the Kingdom - The Gospels

Stories of the Kingdom - The Gospels

In this Bible Story, Jesus tells parables on the kingdom of heaven, earthly stories with heavenly implications. And His disciples are greatly impacted by the seemingly backwards kingdom of God. This story is inspired by Matthew 13:24-30, 36-50. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is Matthew 13:22 from the King James Version.

Episode 188: As Jesus continued to teach the crowds using parables, he began to teach them what God’s Kingdom was like. He tells them of evil farmers planting weeds in a good farmer’s field, teaching them about God’s goodness, God’s people, and evil planted by Satan. He taught them about the value of God’s Kingdom as more precious than the most valuable treasure of the finest pearl. And He taught them about God’s justice and how those who are unrighteous will be tossed aside like rotten fish at the end of the age.

Culture Shock Part 3: You Are What You Eat

Culture Shock Part 3: You Are What You Eat

You’ve heard that  “You are what you eat.” Do you know that this applies to your spiritual life? So, what did you eat today? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how to make sure that you are properly feeding yourself spiritually.

Food is one of the things that make up a culture.
We were created to require constant intake and that intake determines our output.

Proverbs 4:23 – “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

    What you eat matters:
    1. You’re full of what you feed on.
If you’re full of the world, you won’t have room for things of the spirit. If you’re full of the Spirit, you won’t be tempted by things of the world.

    2. You crave what you consume.
Feeding an appetite doesn’t make it go away, it makes it grow.

    3. Lack of hunger is a symptom of sickness.
If you've lost your appetite for spiritual food, you're probably spiritually sick. What you hunger for reveals your health.

    4. Your quality of food determines your quality of life.
Other things may make you feel full temporarily but won’t give you what you really want or need.

What spiritual food should Christians be eating?

    1. Obedience.
John 4:31-34 "Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” 32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” 33 So the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?” 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work."
Obedience is the measure of success for a Christian.

    1 Samuel 15:22-23

Christian obedience is not adherence to a set of principles, or a code of ethics, but obedience to a person. We follow the words of Jesus because we trust Him even if we don’t fully understand Him.

    2. The body and blood of Jesus.
    John 6:54-56
The degree that you dwell in Christ, will be the degree that you display Christ. The more you consume him, the more you will reflect Him.
    Matthew 5:13
    Colossians 4:6

    3. God's goodness.
Psalm 34:8 “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”
Psalm 37:3 “Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.”

We need to not only be familiar with WHO God is but HOW God is.

You will be tempted to doubt God’s goodness because of disappointments in this world. But pain in this world doesn’t reflect on God’s goodness, it reflects on our brokenness.

Are you eating kingdom food or the food of this world?
