    208. The Invisible Load of Motherhood: Encouraging Moms to Set Down Bags God Didn't Ask Them to Carry

Welcome back to the kitchen table. As women, we often find ourselves loaded down with expectations, performance pressures, and the weight of our identities. In today’s episode Bethany welcomes you to open and explore the baggage that you are holding onto. And, she welcomes you to explore the great exchange offered by the gospel and learn how to pour our hearts into the hands of God.

The pressure to perform can weigh heavily on our shoulders. And, our identities are often shaped by various roles—daughter, friend, career woman. These roles are not inherently burdensome, but societal expectations attached to them can become heavy. Bethany reminds listeners how it’s essential to recognize that we aren't designed to carry this baggage. God created us to reflect his image.

God beckons us to run to Him. At the heart of the gospel lies a beautiful truth: the great exchange. God asks us to give him all of ourselves, and in return, he promises to do the same. It's an invitation to lay down our burdens and receive his grace, love, and mercy in abundance.

Bethany encourages listeners to lay down our burdens, embrace the great exchange, and find rest in Jesus. We are not alone in this journey, and he invites us to respond with worship, letting go of the pressure to perform.

    204. Snapshots of Who He Is- How Do We Talk About These Attributes With Our Kids?

As we conclude the snapshot series, we reflect on the words from 1 Thessalonians 5:14, emphasizing the importance of taking God along with us throughout our day. Bethany provides guidance on how to integrate God into our daily lives and conversations, focusing on grace and the gospel.

By seeing our children through God's eyes, we discern their needs—whether they are struggling with idols, faint-heartedness, or weakness. This perspective prompts us to embody God's attributes in our interactions, adapting our approach based on the specific needs of our children.

Ultimately, our interactions with our children serve as a mirror, reflecting how we engage with God's attributes and prompting us to seek guidance in navigating these conversations.

    158. If I Could Teach You Only One Thing About God

    158. If I Could Teach You Only One Thing About God

Welcome back to the kitchen table, where today's episode brings you a pivotal message from Bethany, one that she believes is among the most vital she could share with you. This message is warmly extended to every mother, with the hope that it can initiate a shift in your prayer life, moving it from a mere duty to a heartfelt desire.

Bethany draws wisdom from scripture, emphasizing that God is not a distant observer but is fully engaged and attentive, already aware of our needs before we even voice them. This profound understanding has the power to reshape our approach to prayer, transforming it from an obligation into a sincere desire to commune with the Lord. When we acknowledge that God is not only aware of our desires but also encourages us to bring them to Him, it changes our perspective from a performance-driven faith to forming a deep, personal relationship with him.

Bethany eloquently reminds us that our faith should not be reduced to a measure of our worth against some divine standard. Rather, it should be an embrace of God's posture of love and support. She extends this truth to every mother, recognizing its transformative potential, particularly in the context of motherhood and prayer. By shifting our focus from duty to desire and by gaining a profound understanding of God's compassionate posture toward us, we can discover a deep sense of purpose and joy in our journey of faith.

    142. Building Our Foundation: Parenting a Fearful Child

Welcome back to the kitchen table. Today's episode continues the series on building our foundations rooted in God's word. Parenting can be a challenging journey, especially when our children grapple with fear. Bethany explores the significance of anchoring our motherhood in gospel truth while acknowledging the abundance of opinions and advice out there.

Through scripture, word pictures, and practical strategies, Bethany offers opportunities to help your children navigate the thoughts that cause fear by pivoting them back to what God says and the truth he offers—helping our children navigate. Instead of merely helping them understand why they feel afraid, we should strive to link their fears to the truth of God's Word. By doing so, we guide them toward a solid foundation built on the promises of God.

By building a foundation rooted in gospel truth, we can help them navigate through fear and anxiety. Remember, God knows our children intimately and invites us to seek Him through prayer and rely on his wisdom. As we shift our focus from worldly advice to God's promises, we equip our children with the tools necessary to combat fear with unwavering faith.
