Kelly Miller has been tea-obsessed for nearly a decade. What is the source of her obsession, you ask? And just like that, Kelly, the tea sommelier, was born. THAC (Tea and Herbal Association of Canada) Certified, Kelly currently works as the Research & Development Lead at the DAVIDsTEA headquarters. #52 Aim for Skills to Start Your Journey
Playing with your shoelaces and thinking about running is not the same as entering the race and placing yourself on the starting the line. When you decide to become skillful in your art whether it is Northern Shaolin, Tai Chi Chuan, Sword, Xing Yi Quan, or Qigong is when your journey really begins. By committing yourself to regular, focused practice and paying with your time and effort you earn the real skills, physique, and health benefits of your training. I also discuss how my teachers Ba Gua Zhang Master Zhang Hua Sen and Chen Family Tai Chi Master Chen Xiao Wang escaped hardship by mastering their arts. This is somewhat different than the sacrifices required in modern life. When you decide to become skillful and spend the time and effort you will also meet your own mind, and train it and your will power to keep your feet on the path and heading toward your goal. In addition, I have a fun question that will help you meet your own mind and find out who is driving the car on this journey!

In this episode I share the verbal instructions on Post Standing Qigong, a wonderful, healing, breathing exercise and meditation, I frequently practice and teach. I use these instructions to lead this exercise in class, and teach my students to perform at home. This exercise is perfect for total beginners. It is also a great place to begin if you are recovering from an injury or illness. Post Standing can also help if you are subject to the stress and tension so common in our modern world. Post Standing Qigong requires a minimum amount of space and no equipment. You can practice this Qigong as long as you wish. It is truly a simple and safe method that yields great results. Not quick results but slow drop by drop results that add up gradually to deep change. The instructions given in this podcast will help you to establish a good practice method. You can practice as long as you desire and you have enough strength. I encourage you to listen to my previous episodes about qigong particularly:

In this podcast episode I explain what Qi or Chi is. Qi is an exceptionally difficult term to translate and when you finish listening to this episode you will understand why. In this first part I approach Qi more from a philosophical point of view and then in part two I will discuss the medical uses of the term Qi in more detail and tie all of this into practical advice for cultivating your Qi.
氣 = Qi or Chi
气 = Vapor, or Steam
米 = Rice

This is the first episode of the martial arts podcast Talking Hands.
Kung Fu San Soo is a popular martial art in California thanks to Jimmy H. Woo (Chin Siu Dek/陳壽爵). It's my first martial art I've ever studied, so obviously I felt obligated to begin my podcast with it. In this episode I interview Amar Georgeson, a fellow San Soo practitioner who traveled to the home village of San Soo. We discuss San Soo in depth as Amar walks us through his journey through the birthplace of San Soo. We separate fact from fiction only to discover something even more exciting.
Amar published a book that's a MUST for all San Soo stylists out there, you can find it here: https://www.blurb.com/b/2996885-old-canton
This is Part One of my San Soo Facts and Fiction mini series within this podcast. Next guest will hopefully be Ron Gatewood.
Thanks for listening.
In this episode I talk about tea culture with George Jaw, the founder of the Las Vegas Tea Culture Institute. You can find them on Facebook under the group name "Las Vegas Tea Club". George is a fun and amazing guy who has a great foundational love and knowledge of tea but is very oriented toward new ideas and expanding what it means to have a tea culture in North America.
