Ep. 122: Everything Turns Grey - Goth Rock vol.III Featuring Brent Zius

Ep. 122: Everything Turns Grey - Goth Rock vol.III Featuring Brent Zius

It’s been unusually dark, cold, and grey here in Atlanta, GA for the past few days, so the boys thought it best to bring on a guest who is an authority on all things grim and ghastly. They donned all-black garb, guy-liner, and a healthy dose of black no. 1 on their mop tops and welcomed Mr. Brent Zius and his coffin full of goodies to the firehouse. Brent schools us on the dark and ethereal world of Goth Rock…

What is it we do here at InObscuria? In most shows Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week is different as our guest, Brent Zius, provides the playlist for your 2 rock n’ roll grave robbers to react to. Our hope is that we turn you on to something that was lost on your ears, or something you've simply forgotten about, or that (in our opinion) should have been the next big thing.

Ep. 99: Famous Ghost Stories From Rock n' Punk n' Metal

Ep. 99: Famous Ghost Stories From Rock n' Punk n' Metal

This week’s show is the final frightful installment of our month-long celebration of the Halloween season. We also celebrate 2-years of existence!!! We hope you love this episode to death… There are some frightfully spooktacular songs on this episode that will raise the hairs on the back of your neck and nether regions! Happy Halloween everyone!

What is it we do here at InObscuria? In the beginning, good always overpowered the evils of all man's sins... But in time the nations grew weak, and our cities fell to slums while evil stood strong. In the dusts of hell, lurked the blackest of hates. For he whom they feared awaited them... Now many many lifetimes later lay destroyed beaten down and only the corpses of rebels, ashes of dreams, and bloodstained streets remain... It has been written"Those who have the youth, have the future". So, come now children of the beast; be strong and shout at the devil!

Welcome, all y’all to 2021 Halloween creepy week #4! The boys slick back their hair and get downright greasy in this latest slab of creepy crawlin’ rock n’ roll earworms. We’re going to the barbershop to hang out with the corpses and zombies and talk all things hot rods, pin-ups, horror, and rock n’ roll!

What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. Robert is forced to test his endurance and provide feedback, as he has no idea what he will be subjected to every week. Our hope is that we turn you on to something that was lost on your ears, or something you've simply forgotten about, or that (in our opinion) should have been the next big thing.

Ep. 97: Arcane Sounds From The Big SCREAM

Ep. 97: Arcane Sounds From The Big SCREAM

Be prepared to spill your popcorn this week as we check out songs from spooky flicks! That’s right, we are going to the movies and we’re prepared for blood n’ gore n’ frights! Did you ever hear about rock bands selling their souls to the devil, and if you listen to their music or play their albums backwards that you will turn into a demonic zombie??? The 70s, 80s, and 90s were full of films about horrific demons and metal n’ punk bands either having their songs featured in the movie, or were themselves featured as the subject of the film. Grab your Reeses Pieces, large Coke, a severed limb, and hum along.

What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week Robert gets a glimpse into another collection of lost and forgotten songs from the silver screen SCREAM! Our hope is that we turn you on to something new… and that you make it to the end of movie!

    Songs this week include:

    1. Fastway – “Stand Up” from Trick Or Treat – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (1986)
    2. W.A.S.P. – “Scream Until You Like It” from Live… In The Raw (1987)

Ep. 96: Grave Mistake: TYPE O NEGATIVE Shoulda Been Huge!!!

Welcome brothers & sisters in blood, to another installment of our ongoing series called “Grave Mistakes: They Shoulda Been Huge!!!”. This time we focus on one of our favorite bands of all time; the amazingly creepy-cool champions of Vinland: TYPE O NEGATIVE!. Join us in our Halloween-themed celebration of this band’s 7 killer albums and the big man that led this group: Peter Steele. If you don’t know this band, or if you are only vaguely familiar with them; do yourself a favor and check this out. Put on some black, turn on the creepy green light, pour yourself a cup of absinthe, and crank up the volume!

This episode is rooted in our Should Have Been category. This is a band that was trend-setting and had notoriety, but their brilliance and innovation have not been recognized nearly as much as your hosts think they should. We think they SHOULDA BEEN HUGER… and we are deadly serious about that!

Ep. 95: Everything Turns Grey - Goth Rock vol.II

Ep. 95: Everything Turns Grey - Goth Rock vol.II

This is the first week of our annual Halloween month of creepy shows! The boys provide a true appreciation of the grim and ghastly as they don all black garb, guy-liner, and a healthy dose of black no. 1 on their mop tops. That’s right, everything turns grey as they, once again, explore the dark and ethereal world of Goth Rock…

    Songs this week include:

    1. The 69 Eyes – “Gothic Girl” from Blessed Be (2000)
    2. Rosegarden Funeral Party – “Fear Of Feeling Nothing” from At The Stake - EP (2020)
    3. The Damned – “Tailspin” from Not Of This Earth (1996)
    4. Red Lorry Yellow Lorry – “Strange Dream” from Talk About The Weather (1985)
    5. H.I.M. – “Beyond Redemption” from Love Metal (2003)
    6. The Prophetess – “All I Want” from Dichotomy (1996)
    7. Gene Loves Jezebel – “Evening Star” from Kiss Of Life (1990)
    8. The Swear – “Echo Park” from The Swear (2005)
