John Jones age 24, arrived in Australia on the ship ‘Mary Pleasants’ as a free man, on the 9th August 1857. This episode tells the details of the crime which ended his two year stay in the new country and ended all his ambitions to prosper and succeed as others did on the same journey.
Jim Crow was born in Clarence Town in 1837, south of Maitland, and it is believed he was a member of the Wonnarua people of the Hunter Valley. Little is known about his life prior to his crime, such as his Aboriginal name.

What kind of dangers can you really run into while grave robbing? We follow Dominic Monaghan (!) as he gets into it and find out himself in horror comedy I Sell the Dead. The addition of Ron Perlman as well should make this a winning combo, but did the Fried Squirms dig it?

Mind Labs: The Dead and Their Place

Mind Labs: The Dead and Their Place
The way we treat our dead tells us much about our attitude towards life, as it does about our belief in an afterlife. In ancient times, people were buried with objects befitting their rank; as if they were ordained to continue that role after death. Today, several hundred people have had their bodies frozen having placed such faith in science, in that they hope to be preserved until a cure for death is discovered. In this programme we’ll be looking at the treatment of Sheffield’s dead at the beginning of the 19th century and asking what this can tell us about the birth of this modern city.
