Hunting Giant Moose in Alaska with Adam Grenda

Hunting Giant Moose in Alaska with Adam Grenda

If you dream about big bull moose drifting through the alders, this episode is for you. Guest Adam Grenda, Alaska bush pilot and co-host of Stuck N The Rut on YouTube, hunter extraordinaire of giant moose, tells his story. How the passion to hunt was instilled in him at the ripe old age of three, how he found a bride with a drive to hunt and fish that equals his own, and how they moved to Alaska and found a home there.

Adam and Tana's daughter Julia (age 15) just shot her first moose—a whopping 254-inch monster bull with antlers that weighed 103 pounds and stretch the tape 73 inches wide. This podcast tells her hunt story, and Adam digs deep into the gear that has proven crucial for moose-hunting success. Boots, packs, rifles, cartridges, and more. Folks, this was one of my all-time favorite conversations recorded for the podcast. ENJOY!

EP 132: Brian's AK Bear Hunt Recap + Bonus Moose

EP 132: Brian's AK Bear Hunt Recap + Bonus Moose

Alaska native Brian Poor spills the beans on all his Alaskan hunting adventures with his father. He's joined by Jeremy Winters who has a few stories of his own, along with Landon Michaels who is preparing for his first Alaskan adventure on Kodiak Island. On his latest hunt, Brian gifted his father a Gunwerks 30 Nosler that may have just been a lucky charm for their moose and grizzly bear combo.

EP 131: Live from Kodiak Island

EP 131: Live from Kodiak Island

It's the whole Gunwerks hunting party on a boat, in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Kodiak Island. The guys provide an update on the adventure thus far; there has been epic fishing, a harrowing bear encounter, and sitka blacktail shot mid-sandwich. Austin Atkinson of Huntin' Fool joined them on this hunt and provides a lot of good information from his experiences in Alaska. The hunting's been good and the stories are fresh on this episode of Long Range Pursuit Podcast!

EP 129: Kodiak Island Hunt Prep

EP 129: Kodiak Island Hunt Prep

The crew touches on topics including gear choices for the Alaskan environment, balancing rifle and cartridge selection for deer hunting and bear protection, the travel logistics to and from the hunting areas, and more.  This is the first episode in a three part mini-series chronicling the epic adventure that is a hunt Kodiak Island!

Gunwerks Nexus: Most versatile rifle made in America?

Gunwerks Nexus: Most versatile rifle made in America?

By popular demand, here's a deep dive into the new Nexus rifle by Gunwerks. It's a switch-barrel design with an aluminum action, a built-in ARCA rail under the forend, a fast-moving 3-lug bolt, and a superb carbon fiber stock that really minimizes felt recoil.

Features of the Nexus are unpacked and detailed, and practical, tested, field performance to 1,400 yards is discussed. Cartridge options (initially 6.5 PRC and .300 PRC) and barrel lengths (20" and 24") are explored.

Real-world use in the field? Naturally! Audrey von Benedikt (age 14) hammered a 5.5-foot cinnamon-colored black bear boar from 301 yards, and we discuss that story, along with accuracy and reliability testing.

    ENJOY!
